It should considering how heavy the GTR is over the Z06.

Yep, but the GTR does have AWD and some nice gadgets that the vette does not.

I love what foreign manufactures have done with their cars but in the end I am a patriot and I like to see when American made stuff trumps the rest Which nowadays is rare.

The GT-R has one other advantage (or disadvantage) - rear seats. Even if they are for dwarves.

I do like the idea of being able to take more then one passenger. This is the main reason why I went with the RX-8 instead of the S200.

I dont put too much stock into that video. I mean come on, who knows who the drivers are, you dont have to be a genius to tell that that whole video was Z06 biased to the max. Just sayin that it could simply be a much better Z06 driver beating up on someone less skilled in a GTR model that may/may not be detuned. We dont know.

Not taking anything away form the Z06, its a freaky world beater and i respect the **** out of it. BUT, you cant deny the staggering numbers the GTR has produced in multiple road tests (ie, 3.3-3.5 0-60 times, 11.6 1/4 mile and 7:29 at the Ring) vs. the Z06 (3.6-3.7 0-60, 11.7 1/4 mile and 7:43 at the Ring). Both VERY close on test course settings but in real world application, i dont think you can just watch a youtube vid and come out and say "See? The Z06 stomps the GTR". More like THIS Z06 and driver stomped THIS GTR and driver on THIS day. I dont really care either way, but just dont want people to take one youtube video as gospel.

watch if someone post a youtube vid of GT-R smoking a Z06 ppl gonna come out and like "OMFG CHEATING!" "This is not real" "that driver doesnt know how to drive a z06 thats all"

but some how when its Z06 beating a GT-R, things turn around like "damn, that GTR got pwnt" ... etc

no offense to anybody here. but thats how I see it.

Real world numbers proof that GT-R is on par if not better than a Z06, not to mention most videos on youtube came from fanboy/girl's home made video over something they loved.

I will have a chance to drive one when I go visit my friend in Macau the end of this year. will see what sup (his family has a Z06 too, will try both on the same day to get a better feel)

That article could be spot on, i didnt even think about that at first. Guess it would come down to which models they were using for the tests vs. the actual production models that are being offered (and how much they TRULY differ). I must admit, the numbers put out by the GTR in the road tests we see in the mags are freakish for a car that heavy with hp/tq in the upper/mid 400's. Whatever, they are both faster than anything most of us will ever ****** own anyways! lol so....

Its already been proven, The GT-R will dominate a Z-06 on the track. Fact.
The Z-06 will blow the doors off a GT-R in a strait away.Fact. Out accelerate from a go to top end. This video like other videos just proves the obvious.

And if there is a GT-R video that shows it beating a Z-06 in the strait line, then kudos to that driver, but we all know its a rare occurance and its not on the regular that it happens. Just like if a RX-8 beat a 307HP Z , hey great for that driver, but we all know that 350Z with 307HP will walk a RX-8 almost all the time.

Now if there are videos of GT-Rs beating the Z-06 repeatedly in a strait out drag race all the time, then thats a diffrent story, but once or twice doesn't hold weight.....sorry.

Actually the ZR1's times should actually be faster than the official time posted. The day they ran it there were very strong head winds on the long straight and it only topped out at 179mph.

autoblog reported that it was comfortably running in the 7:25s and can easily stand to gain a few seconds when its ready to do the official lap time. Until then, theres no point arguing about it, just be patient. My guess is when the V spec is ready in a few months, its not going to be pretty for the more expensive ZR-1

btw, according to wikiepeida, the zr-1 lap has dubious measurement: corrected time 7:27.3; Strange start point, im too lazy to look into it on whether its true, but the link is here
