Fiesta Reloaded ! Should I modify the air intake ?

Popping my girfliend's (Ford Fiesta) hood I thought maybe I could help that poor car breathe better. The air admission is entering from side (picture). With the plastic cap removed and a mesh grill installed plus a drop-in sport filter the car could do a little better. Sugestions ?

A CAI on that car might net +20 or more WHP gains, seriously.

I don't intend to do a dragster out of it Just helping her a little. A splash of water in there though would be harmful, I guess.

Relocated the battery to the trunk, then buy a 45 degree angle pvc piping fitting and a small piece of pipping about 6inches or less and finaly slap on a "universal" air filter and wham! Custom CAI!

Extended warranty expires in 2011. I could ask the dealer to install a sports filter without voiding the warranty, but I'm not willing to spend any money. Just trying to improvise something at home.

it should be fine, its pretty high up. and there is an air filter further down to keep debris out of the engine.
