No offense taken but you're wrong. Dinan, Turner Motorsport and others have built a living making performance parts for BMWs. They couldn't do that if a market didn't exist filled with people who know exactly what they want to improve their cars. A Quaiffe ATBD mated to a 3.45 final gear? Oh yeah, gimme some of that.

It's Ralliart, and that's basicly like saying whatever happened to Mazdaspeed... They haven't gone anywhere.

I don't understand how all the EVO-lovers out there get so bent out of shape when everyone goes on and on about how good the performance is, but they don't like the wrapper. If looks matter so little to the EVO owner, why do they even care what anyone else thinks?

I for one dont care much for other people's opinions, but truth be told, I'd prefer not to be laughed at by my friends because my car looks like I drove it off the set of the fast and the furious. For me the 8 was about a trade-off of performance for luxary and looks. That would be why I didn't buy a Cobra.

Like I said "most owners", there are also enthusiast out there I am certain. Yes I also watch SPEED touring car championship, Turner Motorsports is definitely in the front runner know what they are doing.

Ones again, I'm not saying every BMW owner, but most. I personally would love to have the new M5 with V10 power inspired by Williams BMW F1 car (FW26).

For every BMW with Dinan and AC Schnitzer stuff on it, I'll show you two BMWs with AC Scnitzer and Dinan badges that have no or very few parts from that tuner. I raced one of these tools a couple weeks ago, and they seem to think a Dinan badge makes them fast.

Ricer mentality is not confimed to japanese imports, let alone all imports. How many cars have you seen with badges or stickers for products the car doesn't have?

Take off the wing and the Lancer Evo looks like an average car.

Whereas that may be true (and I'm sure some of them know it), if you hang out with a bunch of muscle-car guys and you roll up in an EVO... come on, this writes itself.

As for taking the wing off, that's half the battle, and admittadly (sp) the one of the main reasons that kept me out of a mits dealership when I was shopping the 8. (other reasons included the fact that it was a mits, the interior felt cheap, there was a substantial markup at the time, and lord knows what my insurance would do).

Ike, you'll be happy to know that the WRX (STi wasn't released yet) made my short list but in the end it was the interior that I couldn't get over - for a daily driver that I might have to keep for a long time, I'd like it to start off with better quality (perceived or otherwise). It's not that I hate these cars, but Subaru managed to make their rally car (an idea that I think is pretty cool in the first place) pretty good looking, while I think that mits laid an egg.

You'd be surprised how many muscle cars guys will admit to loving the EVO and STi, or secretly love it... On the Subaru forums we have a ton of american muscle lovers, and they are not there to bash the cars. The WRX forums are just full of car enthusiasts of all types. We don't appreciate brand loyal fanbois or the whole imports are great and domestics are crap nonsense over there. Most people at the Subaru forums will sing the praises of the GNX or LS1 about as much as they will an R34 GTR Skyline and EJ20. That's one of the best things about the subaru community.

The interior on the WRX and EVO is nothing flashy, it's simple and functional. I know what you're saying about the EVO, I didn't like it much when it first came out either. I think the OZ Ralliart thing was the biggest reason for that, it placed a stigma on that car for me, but I've gotten over it :p

just a suggestion: check out EVO V, its the best of the best in it's generation so far. and EVO , STi are more than just a typical muscle cars. EVO and STi arent built for luxury; they are purely perfromance cars. btw, the Subaru Legacy B4 STi is all-rounded.

You can buy a stripped down version called the Evo RS, it has no wing, HID, trunk carpeting, power window, power, door locks, power side mirrors, and ABS. You do however get a LSD in the front and a anti roll bar in the back. Pretty cheap too, under $27,000.

Not too bad for the price, but I'm gonna have to say that I like my 8 better - I'll just never ever race an Evo...
