I'm into performance cars, and the performance of this car makes it beautiful to me. For those of you calling this car rice, stop and think about that for a second.

even though it has outstanding performance...the looks just dont do much for me.....there are so many nicer looking cars out there with great performance..you'd never catch me spending 30k + on one of those

It should look better in black or white as these colors would seem to be a better match for the rims. I missed the bumper from the Evo VII though. The 8th iteration's bumper doesn't do it for me.

The MR is cool but I still think it is far from a racing version of the car. I would like the see a factory roll cage, racing seats, no interior parts, no carpet, etc. The Mustang GT-R concept is a good race version of a car to me.

The thing does 0-60 in almost 4 sec flat for $33,000 and it fits 4 people comfortably and it has a turbo and it turns like its on rails and grips with AWD and ACD. For that kind of price/utility/performance I would say it looks damn good. When you order one the only option is for the $1000 carbon fiber wing ( so you don't have to have it if you don't want it) and possibly a sunroof (don't need). After looking at EVOs for a long time and going through periods of liking and not liking the wing I would say that it looks better with the wing but has to be black, silver, gunmetal to look good. Red, yellow, and white are just too cheap looking imo. It would be the only car you ever needed...

The idea here is function over form. I personally like the styling of the rally inspired sedans. The rear wings on all of them are a bit much, but as they are psuedo rally cars, I can live with it.

There is just something cool about an economy sedan that can do 0 to 60 in 4.5 seconds.

You got any pics or sources that aren't hand drawn? I think I remember seeing a concept drawing of the next evo and it looked pretty much the same but better.

The car is terribly ugly, even worse than the WRX. I have yet to find someone call the RX-8 ugly. However, it is truly personal taste. Some people think the Pontiac Aztec looks good. I'm not one of them and I haven't met anyone who thinks it looks good.

I think Subaru is going to have to break out the extra horsepower from the Spec C and the VDC on their next STi.

While I don't agree with most of the opinions on the looks of the Evo (and I'm sure everyone knows the saying about opinions), I think all cars have some colors that look better on them. A black Evo is something to see IMO (the blue even looked better than I thought it would when I first saw it). For those who don't know the wing does provide downforce at higher speeds unlike some rear spoilers you might see on other cars. I read all the BS on here about how "ugly" the Evo is, it's a "boosted up economy sedan", and "it's interior isn't that great". Save all of that! The bottom line is the Evo is a car to be experienced, not talked about. I have experience it and it is probably the closest thing to owning your own roller coaster. I drove the car hard and when you shoot around a curve while on boost your heart is pumping. When you get in the sweet spot and get a full on awd launch again you feel your heart pounding. Now as far as this new Evo MR goes I expect more of that pulse raising experience. IMHO the only thing wrong with this new Evo MR is that there is even more of a chance to get in trouble than the regular Evo and believe me with the acceleration and handling of the Evo it is very (and I do mean very) easy to get in trouble with the law enforcement types.

You are completely right.

That is something here that most members dont get. They see it and judge, then make ignorant comments.

Its hard to explain why driving an evo is so great. The turn in is immediate and razor sharp as is the steering. The steering is very quick too...almost go-kart quick (I think 2.1 turns to lock). It respondes immediately and does exactly what you are thinking. Even going from an EVO to an ///M Coupe, I was disappointed. The M coupe was not as responsive and didnt give the feedback of the evo.
And once you hit 3000rpms and the turbo is singing you will have a smile or you are not a car enthusiast. It pulls effortlesly to its redline (I found myself above 100mph very qucikly on the evo test drive).

Really its just something you have to experience for yourself to appreciate (well I appreciated it before I drove it, but that because I knew).

Its unfortunate, but lots of the people on this baord are caught up solely in looks and status. And they just cant get over the fact that there is a regular lancer, and the EVO is just a hopped up lancer (when in reality the evo is almost a totally different beast).

The only reason I criticize the car's uglyness is because I can't criticize its performance. :P

Form following function, function following form....may not be appealing to the eyes, but it's gotta be one hell of a drivers car.

They just need to give the guys who designed the 3000GT a paycheck again and make a car that performs and looks sweet... Guess they can't afford designers and engineers at the same time .

I don't get all the comments about it being ricey or really ugly.... sure it's not exactly pretty, but other than the wing, there's really nothing outrageous or ricey about it.

I have found myself doing 120 in the Evo just trying to enter a freeway where traffic does not allow for a slower car to get in very easily.
