In other news... this may have already been stated earlier but im not reading through 4 pages... please believe. Yeah so, the heart of our cars are not the suicide rear doors. It is the Rotary Engine. Many companies, even today, use suicide rear doors, but our car is the only car produced now that has a rotary.

No thanks. You lot are too grumpy. Ike, Viking, Feras and Trash all need to go fishing and relax a bit......
Actually, I'm a pretty laid back...easy going, glad to be alive type of guy myself.
If I ever go visit you Gomez, I'm bringing a shirt that I saw on the Simpson's episode when they visited Brazil...lol

I stand by what i said before. Doesn't really look like the Mazda, but there are similarities, and all I think is that Nissan saw how the RX-8 was doing, and what ppl liked about it, and decided to to copy the idea, but change enough to make it their own product. As has been stated, car companies do it all the time. It's called competition, (IF they even build it), and that's usually a good thing.
And oh yeah that thing is ugly as sin.

Have you seen the sales numbers for the RX-8???
Also, if anything Mazda ripped off Saturn, not other manufacturers stealing from Mazda.

I don't mean the sales. The car still attracts a lot of attention, however few are sold. I don't think most ppl want to deal w/ all the maintenance of the rotary, and the lack of power turns ppl away as well. Take away those two items, and we would probably see more. Maybe Nissan is thinking THEY can do better w/the idea.
Yeah, I see what you mean. That 3-door coupe came out a while back. But which would you rather drive?

The question is also not about Nissan copying Mazda because people think Nissan needs more sales.
The question is whether the 2 cars look anything alike.
The answer? They don't.
Nissan is among the last of the car manufacturers to try out the suicide doors, but most importantly, this car looks so much like the older 1970s Toyota Celicas :

It has some slightly similar lines, suicide doors and front 1/4 panel vents. Other than that, it looks nothing like the 8. The rear lights are cool. They remind me of a BMW Z8.
My overall opinion is that I will never drive a car made after 2006 if this is the direction that car styling is going in...

Are you people BLIND? This car is an almost exact duplicate of the '50 Packard Club Coupe. Actually the 8 is pretty close to the Club Coupe too. The only reason either company is able to get away with such flagrant plagiarism is that Packard isn't around anymore to sue them.

I don't see the 8 in that car at all. I wonder if this means a new 240SX? I hope so. Someone needs to bring back out a rwd sports car around 20k. I don't really care for the looks of the car, but it has some potential.

BINGO! According to the lastest JDM mag I was reading this car is a possible Silvia replacement. Nissan is DEFINITELY looking at putting out another affordable FR sports car. The design actually goes back to an old Nissan from the 70's. I believe the article said it had the same name. Either way... if you are in the market for an affordable sports car... what is there? All FF and vast majority are 2-door. LIke the 8, better rear passenger access and the better handling FR layout. The styling doesn't score with me, but the concept does. Let's see where Nissan plans to take this...

the only thing i dont understand is the OPs insistence that owners of nissan cars should for some reason stop bashing "us" because the company who made their cars has a new concept car showing at an auto show.
