Do you think Mazda could do well in the supercar cat with the Furai?

if mazda made the Furai a production supercar in competition with the R8, the Ford GT, Koeniggsegg CCX, Porsche Carrera GT, and Saleen S7?

then maybe I could drive one in my life...

I mean with supercars they have an ordering program for anyone that wants to buy them, so its not like they would have as much to risk if say they made a consumer level Production car..

I think they should make a car to compete with the GTR in the sub 100k realm. Thats a car that they could actually turn a profit and would be pretty exciting to see.

The problem is that the Furai is an actual race car -- the Elise would seem extremely luxurious in comparison.

The number of people who would be willing to pay ~$100k for a car that raw are few and far between. If they could sell a few dozen a year, it would be surprising.

It would be interesting but as previously said they'd only sell a few dozen a year (if that). Although race teams would most likely buy them up since they love Mazda's already.

I love the whole concept. The engine in that car is excellent, but I think mazda might have a hard time convincing people to purchase a full blown race car for $100k rather than a GT-R or the ZR-1. JMO!

P.S. I would buy one if I ever got the money

if i had that kind of money to spend on a supercar i'd definitely go for it especially if they kept the production numbers low. having a car that mean sounding, different looking, and a wankel to boot - i wouldn't be able to sign my name fast enough.

of course i don't have that kind of disposable income but a guy can dream.

Too bad the Furai is worth about $100k x 10.
