They were lucky that mess didn't make it through the windshield! Thank goodness for safety glass.

They were running down an airfield's runway, and got into a bird at high speed. we call that BASH: (Bird Air Strike Hazzard) in the aviation world.
There is a reason airfields are closed during Bird Severe conditions, they thought it would be a good time to take advantage of the closed runway and now they know better...

Ooh Asta! That's insane. Sucks for both sides (seagull, driver).

I doubt they were going 180MPH, but it still made a hell of a mess.

I bet that was 180 km/hr since the wheel was on the wrong side ala Topgear. I don't know of a stock geared EVO that can go 180 MPH...

Reminds me of the Mythbuster's today that was on TV that was testing the difference in thawed and frozen chicken impacts.

careful costanza, you wouldn't want to end up fitting the bill for the tiny instruments they'll need to operate,

It's possible but unlikely, in theory mine will bounce of the rev limiter a little over 170. An Evo VIII with a flash that raises the rev limiter to 7800 rpms (7700 is common) would hit about 180 and a Evo MR with a flash could hit 183 with a 7700 rev limit.
