The mess left behind in the windshield dent is nasty.

It looks like the driver started to make an attempt to avoid the bird. That could have been much worse. Anyone remember the recent commercial with the squirrels that send the car reeling off the road and then give each other high fives?

 

^^Yep, the best thing you can do is to cringe and hit it dead on (pun intended)
it is always preferable to have a busted windshield and a messy cleanup, than a 150MPH rollover
