start sanding that bad boy down! The red / black theme would be cool but the CF just seems more "you". (and different)

The bike is very civilized until you hit 5500rpm then it takes off. My bandit is much more unruly, definitely a hooligan compared to the ZX14.

My wife is so cool to understand that I need two bikes and the RX8.

I am one lucky bastard.....
PICS! LET'S SEE SOME PICS!

Kind of on both subjects here, but when I was about 17 a friend picked up an older motorcycle that didn't run and was partly taken apart for $50. he wanted to make a custom go-kart frame and drop on this 440cc engine. Well, I since I was 16ish really wanted a motorcycle. So I convinced him to rebuild the bike first, so I cold ride it. It was pretty crusty guys. Anyways, we put some work into it, and minimal money. Just needed a new air filter, battery, and spark plugs. We then put the Carbeurator back together. Wow that was a firrst for me. I am too young to know Carbeurators. lol

so we get it together. And as we were fixing the handlebars (We heated them up and bent them back to their normal shape after they were completely bent over.) in his garage it started to rain.

Keep in mind this bike has tire that is completely wore down in the back. It is like almost no tread.

It finally stops raining. My friend lives on a dirt/gravel road. But we couldn't resist. Well, I coldn't resist. i was actually the only one out of three of us who had ridden a bike before.

So I drive down the road, a little awkward, because I have very limited experience. I take another little run. Everythings ok.

Then I don't know what possesed me but I took off down this WET GRAVEL road to see how fast I coud go by the time I had to stop. Anyhow I hit 54mph. Which doesn't seem too fast but it does in those circumstances. Oh and the front brake only worked what I would imagine to be 40%.

It's one of the stupidest things I've done. But that's one of the main reasons I havne't got a bike now. I would love a new GSX-r 600. Even an old bike to start off on. But am afraid of what I'll do...

Oops sorry to get off subject...sort of...

ok so some new parts came in today. The front fork assembly and the rear shocks. The shocks should fit fine, the holes line up perfectly, might need better bolts and new washers but the front fork might be an issue:

See how the brackets don't line up. Shouldn't be too hard to fix, any good welder can lower that sucker down.

As for the shocks:

Everything fits fine.
I have to take the front fork to the welder on saturday.

Just some new updates:

Almost done sanding and stripping away the old paint (85% done). But I decided to have the frame powder coated instead of painting it myself so that was a total waste of time (sand blasting). Havent gotten the front fork bracket lowered yet but I went ahead and test fitted the rim on the fork. Bad news, the rim is too small, so looks like i'll be ordering a new front rim.

had some time over the weekend. Got some new toys.

got some spacers cut for the front wheels, new seat, new inner tubes and racing slicks, and polished up the old exhaust. Also got the front fork bracket lowered to accomodate the new front fork. Sending out the frame to the powder coater next week as well. Got the parts at joe's mini bikes and morgans go karts in L.A.

To set up a speedo

1. Take out all the parts.

2. Mount the head on to your handle bars( be it zip ties or bracket)

3 Run the cables down to your tire and either zip tie the sensor or tape it to the edge of the fork.

4. Now you find a place for the magnet to hook on.

5. Make sure after that, that you have calibrated the speedometer right .

6. Test it out

Pocket bikes are fun but boring...i dont feel like spreading my legs eagle just to sit down. Plus the fun part is restoring the bike. Its from 1968. If you really want to run, i have a buddy that has a 8 hp briggs stroked motor that can run 75 mph no problem and it is making less power than any of those blata's, polini's . Keep in mind, these are 4 stroke and were only designed to go only 12-15 mph

Thought about powder coating the rims as well, but decided to paint them myself. It got grinded down, sanded then primed. 6 coats of black primer, 6 coats of gloss black, and will receive 5-6 coats of clear coating. Should be strong enough to hold up.

you can do a whole lot to these motors. I probably won't be turbocharging my motor, but i will swap out for a 6 hp honda motor. Just the honda motor alone combined with a straight pipe should easily get me in the 50mph territory!

Almost done with my rims. They were in bad condition. Alot of grinding and sanding went into it. Started off with 6 coats of primer black, 6 coats of gloss black, and 6 coats of clear. Just finished pin striping the front rim..prolly do the rear wheel sometime this weekend.

BTW, pinstriping is in dark red, but the pics were taken with my cell phone, kinda hard to tell..
