CX-5 Officially the name of Mazda's new small Crossover

The CX-5 will officially debut at Frankfurt in Sept and go on sale in the 2012. It will replace the Tribute. First completely SkyActive vehicle outside of Japan( where I hear a different model will go on sale first).

I guess Mazda loves number 5. They have an MX-5, a Mazda5, and now CX5.

4 and 9 is unlucky number for Japan, cuz the pronoun-cation is similar to "death"

7 is a lucky number for Japan,

for Chinese, 4 is bad and 8 is

the CX-5 looks 100 times better than the Tribute.

Speaking of SkyActiv, I wonder if they're going to put it into CX-9. Since Mazda & Ford are no longer in a love relationship. Its time to ditch their garbage 3.7 V6. if they put SkyActiv-G or even better SkyActiv-D. I'm in.

The 3.7 is not garbage. The CX-9 drives like a dream (Insanely smooth and powerful) and does not seem to have too many problems. I love Ford's direction and their stock more than I love their products (Now, if they could just break free of unions ) at this time. Sky D is coming for sure but we'll have to see what Mazda does regarding the ultra award winning CX-9.

I just found out one of my friend has a CX-9 (haven't seen him at least 3-4 yrs) that he got a CX-9 and he swear he will not get another Mazda again until I told him its a Ford engine ...

he might have **** luck ?

Unions ... yeah ... Unions suck everywhere, my other friend works in a hotel restaurant uptown told me that the Union workers in there don't do **** ... he just "sit" there almost everyday and he gets 90K a year ... his position ? he is just a DISHWASHER, talks **** all the time and not doing crap just because he is in Union. god I wish I can have his job.

I want Sky-D more than Sky-G. Even Diesel always cost more than premium in NYC but I think the mpg will be much better + the torque :D ... but that probably won't happen for another year.

the whole lineup will become "skyactive" over this next product cycle. there's definitely some pressure to replace the 3.7 ( ford block but mazda top end assembled on mazda's engine line) with a sky-d. you'll see it in the next Mazda 6 so I dont see why it wouldnt appear in the next CX-9

It will be hard to duplicate the smoothness of the CA engine (Replaced the 3.5 CY engine). I'm also not sure if the Sky-D will make 270 hp. The new 6 will definitely be lighter than our current car and should be lighter than the Japanese current model as well. It will be VERY interesting to see how they handle this regarding the CX-9.

i agree...based on my experience a 4L diesel (hi-tech, next-gen or whatever) have not the same feel of a big size gasoline V6, is it a lot better for fuel consumption, this is sure....

honestly i don't see an american customer to change so easily.....

SKY-D is perfect for a CX-7 II IMHO, with auto tranny too..

for the next 2.2 (?) SKY-D i see realistically 200 hp and 450 Nm of max torque, maybe some more hp for the hi-rev capabilities.

The front end looks like the Shinari concept. I guess this will be the first production Mazda to use the new look. Very attractive.

That's the one thing that has always bothered me about diesels. You can't rev them at all! Power dies after 3,500.

I know the Sky D was going to be better, but man, that's actually pretty good! I wonder what gave it such better high rpm power?

Random bump!!!

I've been looking around and I love the look of this car. I hope it doesn't "replace" the tribute in that it becomes generic and watered down...I love the styling and alleged size. Even it if consistently got in the 30's mpgs I'd be happy (as long as it's not some 140hp haha).

Anyway, I'll def be in line for this if they keep it close to the concept!!

If they bump up the interior quality, it could be a great competitor for the TDI cars.
