cut my decision down, down to two....advise?
well from my last post there were 4 cars i got 2 choose from, but from insurance problems and going to the dealership i have narrowed it down to two cars.....RX8 and G35 coupe
right now i'm thinking......Rx8 - love the style
- rotoary engine, high revs
- but low on torque and hp
G35 - high hp and torque, FAST
- the look is a accquired taste, not mine
any help guys?

My friend has a G35, and its a great car. I like the exterior looks, but the interior is a bit plain. rx-8 has better styling and is more unique with doors and engine. Depends on your taste. I choose the rx-8 for its style, unique qualities, price, comfort, and handleing. G35 i feel only beats us in hp and torque area. I still love the g35 as I was going to buy it as well. I think the choice you have, in which i had, was performance (speed wise) vs style and comfort. hope this helps

I'd have gotten the G35 if I could. Classy sophisticated syling, very sporty, and nice power. What's not to like about that.
I love my 8, but I have a lot of appreciation for the G35 and others.

IMO, If you don't like the look of the car, then don't buy it. If you are going to shell out near $30k to buy a car for its performance only, look no further than the Evo8 and STi.
Infiniti: Service, quality, reliability, resale, power, track (road course). Oh yeah, better gas milage.
RX-8: Styling, unique, rotary, 4 doors, nimble, track (autoX)
You also need to consider the price difference, which is pretty significant when you compare heavily discounted RX-8 ($23-28k) vs those near MSRP G35C. ($32-37k)

Will any adults need to use the back seat? Advantage RX-8
Lower Insurance cost? Advantage RX-8
Runs well on Regular gas? Advantage RX-8
Great last 2 choices too.

I would get the G35 because the resale value is better and you will see less of them on the road compared to a RX8 and the interior is more plush. However the RX8 is more fun to drive.

between the two i'd go with g35 if they were the same price, but they are not so its rx8 for me. plus i like the way the rx8 drives better than the g35. both are wonderful cars. i found that the g35 is more of a showy car than the rx8 though, which is way more fun to drive around than the g35.
skyline maniac, i have to disagree with the rx8 autox comment, i think the rx8 wouldn't be that great on autox. i mostly canyon run or do track days and the rx8 fairs better on the track/canyons than the g35 imo. i guess i could be wrong, but its what i've gathered from my experiences with both cars.

Can't go wrong either way...
G35 never hit my radar when I was shopping, Infinity and Lexus were forbidden by my wife. Something to do with her jack-off CEO's car, and some sales guy, and being a yuppie loooser and a bunch of other very illogical reasons.
Did not bother me at all really since I really wanted the RX-8 anyways.
However, RX8 loses on the HP/torque striaght line acceleration front, other than that I think the 8 edges the G35 out in most other categories. Money not being an option I would still probably choose the 8.

The value proposition of the 8 is that it was engineered to be only the 8 (for now). It weighs in at less than 3000 lbs. That's phenomenal for a 238 hp car with all the latest electronics, comfort features, etc. Race car engineers go to amazing lengths to save vehicle weight. They understand that in cars, weight is the enemy.
Also, the ultrastiff backbone chassis of the 8 is unique to that model (for now). Rumored rx7 will share chassis with the 8. But for now, the 8 is one of the only cars not built on a shared platform. I beleive this is what lets the engineers put so much car into such a neat package and offer a level of integration of brakes, suspension, seating, that other cars can't match.
In contrast, the 350z, g35, altima, new maxima, and murano are all derived from the same chassis (I think I read this somewhere but could be BS - do your due diligence). In fact, they all use versions of the same engine. If anything, the shared componentry should allow them to sell their cars at much lower prices.
The 8 being a unique chassis to the model should really sell for more money, but the fact that you save a few bucks over the other cars just enhances the 8's value proposition. Mazda aggressively pricing their car made it irrisistable for me. The other cars, all they could offer was more horsepower.
