Car Rentals

Hi guys, just wondering if any of you have rented cars before. Most of you probally have. well my questions are, from where, how much was it, and was there a option for manual transmission.

Me and my friends are looking to rent a car saturday, for the day and just mess around in it. I went to Enterprise, Hertz so far but they all apear to be automatics. So if anybody could help me out.

Yeah, most places will be just autos. About the sportiest thing will be an auto v6 mustang.

There are some more exotic places where you can rent ferraris and the like, but rental fees are up there.

Very difficult to find rental manuals. Even looking at rent-a-wreck type places. They just don't do it anymore, after all, everybody can drive an auto, while only some peeps can drive a stick. It's just not practible to have sticks if you're a rental co.

I worked in car rental for nine years and some others things to consider is you will need a credit card in your name at most major car rental companies that has at least $200 on it for a deposit. At one time the company I worked for had two Porsche 944 with Auto’s (non turbo). You had to be at least 25 years old, they ran a $500 hold on your card and it cost $99/day. That only lasted one year; there is no money to be made renting “fun” cars in non-tourist areas of the country. Insurance is also something to consider, true if you have full coverage it will cover you in the rental but only after you paid the deductible and expect a rate increases after filing a claim. If you were to take the extra coverage and it was later determined you caused the damage to the car by “messing around” you would have broken the rental contact and will have no coverage from any source. The last thing is to make sure the rental company knows who drives the car, loan it to a friend that is not authorized and he gets into a accident YOUR on the hook for the damage.

I work for Hertz, so I can tell you that we don't offer manual transmission cars. I read in one of our books, that in So. Cal we offer the auto RX-8, and I know up here in the Bay Area Ca, there are some G35 coupes and sedans, mustangs, eclipses, miatas, and thunderbirds. Call 1-800-654-3131 for pricing information. The selection at airports are a little better than the local editions like the one I work at, but if you really want it, we pretty much have every car you can think of. Hope this helps.

Alot of Exotic Car Rental Places Rent manual transmission sports cars (Vipers, Ferraris, Porsches and what not). When I went to Vegas this past New Years I rented a silver CLK430 Convertible with chrome AMG rims.
