they are both good companies, but Honda definately has more soul and spirit than Toyota, but if you want an appliance for a car, Toyota edges Honda slightly.

Honda - Over rated cars. Mostly boring lineup. Bad dealerships.
Toyota - Very boring lineup of reliable cars.
I owned a '98 civic but never owned a Toyota.

I vote for Mazda!!

Will somebody buy my RX-8? I am pretty close to buying an 06 GPW S2000.
Ah, buying my dream car/color eh? Well, the rx8 family sedan is enough for me for now.

To elaborate more though, it would seem toyota has a stronger market base but that is USDM. I really wonder how the cars sell in their original intended market, Japan. Furthermore I wonder what world sales figures are. I aggree in saying that Honda seems to have more soul but that may be because they are much more in the racing scene than Toyota. Toyota entering nascar you say? Another staple to further grow the US market. F1 you say? Least popular :/

As far as personal experience, we currently own a civic with few problems. Brother in law's family owns a few toyotas which have seen the shops many times. That could be user error though, I'm not sure.
