Better Auto Company: Honda or Toyota?

I have a Honda Civic that is going strong (as strong as a Civic can go!) at 150,000 miles with no signs of quitting any time soon and my girlfriend drives a Toyota Camry that has worked well for her too. I think they both build good cars.

Toyota, they're better at what both Honda/Toyota are trying to achieve, making appliancies.

toyota
honda is too stubborn, no v8, no rwd sedan platform. v6 is not that great... weak acura brand...
toyota is ruthlessly efficient, great marketing, better company.. much stronger lexus brand

Neither of the makes have any cars with real personalities. Scion you say? Please. TC is a 2 door Camry with a fancy sunroof. XA and XB are two cars I have no idea why they are in such demand. They both suck. Well, they are good on gas.

Oh, I forgot. Toyota is supposed to come back with the Supra. That would (should) be way cool.
At least with a Toyota you can get a supercharger and other goodies put on and not only will the car still be under warranty, but the add-ons will be covered too. A lesson Mazda could learn from.

I'd give the slight edge to Honda, they have a tad more soul...lol.
But yeah, the lack of RWD and V8's disappoint. They better wake up, before then end up like the BIG 2 (the 3rd is now German)...while GM seems to be headed in the right direction, Ford...not so much right now while the new boss might fix things.

Having owned both Honda and Toyotas, I would say Toyota is the superior company. They are the leader in Hybrid technology.
Also Toyota has a great truck lineup. Honda has the ugly Ridgeline.
Lexus is better than Acura in all respects.
And Toyota has Scion. We actually own an Xb. It's affordable, practicle, and yes...boxy.
Oh what a feeling.

Eww tough decision...
Honda... funness? S2000, NSX, good 4 bangers... sucky v6's and no v8.
Toyota.. funness? umm... Scion? they do have a 4wd wagon... hopefully Supra comes soon.
Edge... Honda barely but quickly losing ground.
Reliability? don't know. both are pretty good i suppose
Lexus > Acura
that's all i got

If I were investing in a car company, I would pick TM over HMC. If I were buying a car, and both companies made similar cars, I will take the one with VTEC!!!
Will somebody buy my RX-8? I am pretty close to buying an 06 GPW S2000.

I'll snap his neck.
I don't have any experience with Toyota, but from what I've read it seems like the handling is better on the Hondas, and the ride is better on the Toyotas. We have an 05 TL that we like a lot. Only fault is that it is not RWD or AWD, but it is probably good that it is FWD because my wife drives it more than I do. Someone said that honda engines stink, but I think the 3.2 in our car is very strong, especially for the fuel economy it gets.

I'm gonna take a step back and think objectively like a regular consumer and forget I'm a car enthusiast for a moment. Honda and Toyota build the most durable and reliable cars PERIOD. Nothing can compare. Being that most of the world are not car enthusiasts, the sales numbers speak for themselves. However, since Honda has the S2000, and that's the only Honda or Toyota I'd ever currently own (I own an 06 S2000), I give the nod to them with extreme partiality.
Toyota is more then capable of building a supreme sports car as we have seen in the past, but they have gone the way of making money and selling the most cars, as well as building fine Lexus automobiles for the upper class, and good for them. It's scary to think that if a Camry sells less then 200,000, and a Corolla sells less then 150,000 automobiles in the US each year, and Honda were to sell less then 150,000 Civics or Accords each year, that it would be considered a complete and utter failure for the company. Of course they sell more then that each year, and will continue to. If Subaru, Mazda, or Mitsubishi sold even half of the amount (Civics Accords, Camrys, and Corollas) of any one of their models, they'd be in complete and utter celebration.
Now back to being an enthusiast. I appreciate and respect those companies for building solid and reliable vehicles, and their Lexus and Acura lines are wonderful, but being a dime a dozen on the roads is not something I will ever do. With the exception of the S2000, there is nothing for me.
With that being said, I'll stick to cars that aren't a dime a dozen, because I just can't imagine driving what everyone else is driving.

Momentum Keeps Me Going
On my 'fun drive WGAS Meter'
TMC -> Scion XB WAS the ONLY interesting car in their lineup, and that's not saying a whole lot, but at least it's fun to drive and hauls stuff well. The rest, except hybrids, are superior automotive appliances, with the soul of a ball bearing . Their Hybrids, while supposedly eco cool, are in the end eco-way-too-expensive in materials and repair costs for the end result.
Lexus - great way to suck disposible income from peps who want living room couches for cars.
full disclosure: 1st car, owned for 105K wonderful miles until it rusted away and I STILL sold it for way-too-much! One (and one too many) Lexus.
HMC -> Lost their "fun cars to drive" way many many many moons ago in a futile quest to beat TMC, their inbred DNA limits the results they now produce (S2k excepted). Their volume cars are staight-lace conservative, power challenged (similar to Mazda), minimalist content-wise, ultimately sooooo .
Acura - Elitist Honda for those with $
full disclosure: owned 4 Accords, including their 1st one (the best!), until they got big and lost their soul, 1 Civic. Now own an Acura luxo boat (wife).
BL: Both companies produce great quality cars for the masses as transport, and in general exactly what mass produced cars should be. No wonder they're winning the sales race in NA.

Honda has no fun cars?
Anyone know of the S2000 or the 2007 Civic SI? Did you ever hear and S2000 at 8500RPM with an intake?
The Civic SI is probably one of the best bang for the buck cars in terms of build quality, refinement, performance and driving pleasure. It's a very well balanced car for a FWD.
Even if it was overpriced the 2006 NSX wasn't too bad...
And Lexus, even if they makes reliable cars, theirs aern't as fun to drive as Acuras.
An IS350 is nice, but no manual available and it feels dull and boooooring to drive.
The RSX-S was a lot of fun to drive, so is the TSX which feels nimble for such a big car.
I'd also take a stick shift Accord V6 coupe before a V6 Camry in terms of driving pleasure.

Honda is the heart and soul of the tuner community....
The cars are alot of fun!
Honda civics, accords, and preludes from the late 80's and up are easy to modify...
Integra type R..NSX...RSX..TL..RL..Acura makes much better cars than lexus!
Honda s2000 is a great car as well.
The honda is more plentiful therefore has more aftermerket companies creating parts for it.
Honda is the backbone of this entire community...Dont hate!
BTW I work for toyota!

alot tend to think right away which has the better 'sport' department, but if the question is which is the better auto company from a business view i have to vote toyota.
