That's about all I could gather is that the RX-8 was turbocharged, I think the Z and Accord were N/A but hard to say for sure and the IS I don't think anyone really cares, it got whooped. Thanks for the cool video, I'm suprised I haven't seen it on another site yet. The the Z and RX-8 went down to the wire, looks like both cars handled really reall well with the slight edge to the 8 in the turns and the Z in the straights. The accord was impressive as well holding off the RWD competitors for so long. It's certainly not the best handler of the bunch but Honda/Lexus sure can make some great handling FWD cars. Anyone able to translate furthrer than the RX-8 is turbo and they were impressed by it's handling? The RX-8 really was on rails with the Z being a close second with a little more grunt.

Nice one! Huge file though - have you got infinite bandwidth? Should really set up a .torrent for something that size.

Agreed Ike, the Accord did excellently. Looked to me like it had the best driver as well - very smooth.

That poor bikini babe at the start looked like she was freezing to death though

Here is a translation (paraphrase) of the drivers impressions after the race. Note the RX-8 driver says he prefers the Skyline. Seems a slightly modified NA RX-8 runs in good company.

Sti, Evo, SRT-4 ?????? I don't think so......Not in this crowd.

Ike, 350 read it and weep. The 8 was slower in the straights but still won easily......go figure

- They ask Fujita about how much the HP had been increased from the mod ?
300 HP ? He said it will lucky if he can get close to that number but
it is around that number, he thinks.

- They also ask what not throw in a turbo ? He said that make the interior
of the car extremely hot and it will do no good to the engine.

- Impression from the 1st drive of the two drivers:
- the car is Really Comfortable, Real Smooth and SooooEasy to
drive. Superb handling.
- The mod were not too aggressive but already see great
improvements. This implies to them that there Still lots of room left for
improvements in further modifications.
- the ride is so smooth feels like a very mature, refined vehicle.
- the car feel very light easy to slide into a corner but yet but it
never makes you feel like you are going to lose control of the car and slide
all over the place.

- Conclusion after the 1st test drive:
- Fujita Engineer really knows how to mod a car
- Engine feel a lot lighter and faster than the stock verison.
Especially when going up a slope.
- Suspension mod were superb.
- Excellent road feel
- Kick *** Tires.

- After the race
- Z Driver: it (the RX-8) really is a Sport Car !

- Worth Buying ?
- Z Driver: yea I think so, give you great pleasure just cruising
around in it. Awesome Handling and braking ability. But when it comes to
racing, you are gona lose in Straight away FOR SURE, which really is a turn
off for me. If there are more horsepower then yea for sure worth buying for
sure,
- RX-8 Driver: Well, I definitely think its worth buying. But I
rather have the Skyline.

I don't think the 8 won that easily.. Also although it does look like like it's turbo when they show the specs it's 250ps and I think the 350Z is 300ps? Also it looks like they all have coilover suspensions and upgraded tires/brakes so all stock 350Z/Rx-8 comparisons go out the window..

Yup both the Z and the 8 had a hard time against that Accord. Watching it again, looks to me like they only got past him because he screwed up a chicane and ran wide towards the end. Watch from around 10 minutes in... very close.

Can't let a post go by without insulting other cars now can we? I don't see any mention about the STi, EVO, or SRT-4 and I don't see your point in bringing it up.

Yeah, it's a very close race for them. I think I know when that is.. that is when the RX-8 was cutting into the Accord's driving line while entering a right hand corner, forcing the Accord to take a wider turn and thus lost the momentum. It couldn't catch up after that as the 3 cars almost had the same amount of power. That guy in the green jumpsuit is Tsuchiya. He's pretty good and is referred to in Japan as the "Drift King". All in all, I'm pretty happy for the modded RX-8's performance. The way it brakes later in the corner and carries more momentum out of it shows it's in the right direction, like the S2000. Now all it needs is more power.

I just watched a Best Motoring issue with an Alfa 147GTA, an Accord Type-R (RSX??), an S2K, a Golf R32 & the 8....guess what??

The 8 got away with the 1st place. Opinion: DRIVERS RACE between the S2K & 8. I think the 8 was a MSP version. Engine output seems to be the same as in the J-Spec version.

Is this the video with the gunmetal FEED RX8? If it is it didn't have much power mod, just exhaust and lighten flywheel. Most of the work is done on the suspension and brakes. It is running 213.8ps wheel power.

Thanks for the link RX8-TX.

Man the RX-8 SMOKED the field. That S2000 was a very distant second. Then the RSX, Golf and Alfa were so far back they didn't count.

I would love to see one of these vids with a RX-8, Sti, and Evo in it. Might help hush the TROLLS.

to bring another point up......in both videos the 'drift king' himself, kei tsuchiya is driving the rx-8. i know that all the other drivers in those respective videos have great skill, probably more than i will ever have in my lifetime, however i still believe that tsuchiya is the best, maybe we should take that into regards when analyzing the results. this brings me to another point.....

it must be a great life to just sit and analyze things.....id like to have a job as an analyst in the future.

rx8/350z/Accord typeR/IS200 is from Hot Version vol 63 (not best motoring)

and

rx8/s2000/rsx-r/golf r32/alfa is from Best Motoring September issue

just wanna point that out.

I would also like to point out:

Let all give props to Mazda for giving best motoring an Rx-8 with not only the Grand Touring Pkg. but also NAVIGATION! I mean seriously were they trying to loose. This is in reference to the well-debated rx8/s2000/integraR/g35/miata battle.
