Indeed. I'm thinking my next sports car is going to be a RWD twin-turbo 2L 4-banger that has about the same power as an RX-8, minus about 500 lbs. (Think Lotus). That's still probably five years away, so in the nearer future, I'll settle for a 35 mpg FWD commuter that still handles, like:

Mini Cooper S
Mazdaspeed 2
Audi A1
Alfa Romeo MiTo

I'll keep the 8 for summer commuting and the occasional road trip.

Volkswagon Lupo......Diesel

Problem solved.....too bad the oil companies have lobbied against VW bringing it here due to it being "unsafe".......unsafe for them maybe, being that it gets 75mpg.

Drilling in places such as the Artic Wildlife Refuge shouldn't even be considered. There's plenty of oil, just an unwillingness by companies to distribute it. Oil no longer follows a supply and demand model. It follows an OMGWTF AN ANT GOT RUN OVER IN IRAN model. The FEAR model seems to be becoming king.

Here's a fun little tidbit.....Iraqi oil is some of the cheapest to produce in the world due to it's shallow depth and ease of access. It costs about $1.50 U.S A BARREL to produce.......you do the math, and then wonder why earning statements haven't been made public lately.

I just bought one!
A G8 GT! Sucks gas but goes fast.

What's your point?

There will always be a market. It may be smaller but the petal to the metal between stop lights must continue.

It's the American way of life, thanks to the Aussies!

90% of the US also thinks it's spelled/pronounced "Nucular"

THIS. A car is a terrible investment in the first place. Why drop 10K+ on something you don't like using?
