Axial Flow Supercharged Hotrod up for Auction

Someone get Richard in here to identify the SC and its original use etc:

At the Dana Mecum auction this spring will a 1964 Ford Galaxy with an original Latham(nea Axialflow) Supercharger sitting on a 427cu 425 hp motor. and to top it off the thing has a Rocket axle as well

thats right an actual liquid fueld rocket good for another 850 hp

Apparently it was originally put together in 1967 for /by one of the RJReynolds heirs

Looks like that would give a fun ride but can't imagine turning with that rocket pushing the car along.

Seems like something I recall from the movie "Darwin awards" but beautiful.

From my read the rocket did not "push" but it was actually a rocket powered turbine connected through reduction a gear to the rear axle.

A VW was running 9s in 1962 with one of these and smoked a 4 engine dragster!
