If I'm spending a couple of hundred grand on a car or more, I want it to drive and handle like that amount of money so from what I see The 599 is the complete package out of the cars everyone's mentioned but could choose a DBS just as easily though not as fast all around. The usual on-paper specs don't mean **** if the car has numb/vague steering, sloppy suspension, no driver feedback and is not particularly fun to drive as has been reported by testers/reviewers when it comes most any modern Alfa including the 8C.

Yes, those stats from the 8C Competizione suggest it has the super car potential, but all of that means very little if it gets around a track slower than cars far less than a 1/4 of the cost. Top Gear's test track isn't the end all/be all of benchmarks, but there is no excuse for something that cost that much to be down so far in the lap records.
Hey there Mo. I have not driven the Alfa, chances are you haven't either. So we both must get our info from some other sorce. All i have is what I read in R&T. They praised the handeling. I don't know this Jeremy person, only what I've read on this forum. But don't you find it hard to believe that Fiat/Ferrari would put out such a car and have it "handle like a Mustang"? If you do a internet serch on Alfa Romeo 8C, you can read the R&T artical. Not saying that they are correct and Mr. Jeremy is wrong, but I just can't believe that the company responsible for Ferrari and Maserati would put out an important car like this and F-up on it's handling. Why the lap times as listed by Jeremy? I don't know, could be many factors. Mr. Jeremy included. By the way please excuse my English, it's not my first language so I have a bit of a difficult time expressing my thoughts in writing.

JC only had one point to prove in his review... that the 8C was a work of "art". He scripted it in a way where he had to dislike the way it drove. But guys, he is an entertainer first, car reviewer second. That is how Top Gear works. It was more than wet on the 8C lap also.

I don't get it, is that to show us how beautiful the Alfa is next to an ugly fat car? Sort of like how hot girls have fat ugly friends to hang out with so when we see them all together, the hot one looks even hotter?
