By sheer probability, the fact that there are more Z's sold logically means that there will be more Z's available for resale. Not to mention the fact that Mazda bought back those who might have wanted to resell their 8 at the beginning.
That's my analysis anyway....

Just picked up the Trader: For "Re-sale"
Nissan 350Z - 9 Mazda RX-8 - 0
Wouldn't you think by now that there might be a single RX-8 for
resale? I do, and the fact that I've yet to spot one in the Auto Trader is amazing. Even if your theory held water you would expect to see a couple of 8s for sell from time to time.....Either people just love them or maybe there secretly returning them in other states to buy 350s?

It's very possible. I never said that your theory was wrong...I just offered a different one. Your ideas are also only show resale cars for san diego where that particular auto trader publishes. Not to mention they sell the most 350s in california. If you look on ebay there are always a few 8's for sale. There's a few for you.

There are no RX-8 Private owners selling on Auto Trader, because the dealer is offering Invoice on all 8's. They can't compete with that, when the dealer can't even sell the dang car when it is new. At my dealer, they are selling at invoice; 11 Rx-8s there and not going anywhere. I don't understand why, becuase it is a pretty noice package.

4 Private sellers in my area, but yes, if they bought the RX-8 near MSRP they are going to lose their *** because many dealers seem to be flooded with RX-8s. Hell, on autotrader in the used car area I had to weed through the new cars to count the used ones. So delaers are paying for ads in the used area of the site to get more exposure. The few dealers I've seen in my area have plenty of 8s to go around and are willing to deal. It is a nice package, but hp sells cars in many cases. Even though the RX-8 is a great car (I mean that) it's getting a lot of ridicule within the import community, and even by enthusiasts who just expected more umph. That has to be hurting sales to a degree, and I would imagine so is some reluctancy caused by the stigma that seems to follow to rotary.

Mazda dropped the ball with its MSRP game again. I have been saying from the beginning, Mazda should have offered the RX-8 6MT for $25k, and max out under $30k to be competitive. If they had done that, the hp issue wouldn't matter (since cars in the same class have less), they wouldn't have to discount it to invoice, which hurts both brand image and resale.

I personally didn't buy the car for the engine of all things. I could care less what the heck kind of engine it has. I think the looks make it very appealing, but I do agree that a HP boost would have helped sales. Especially when you compaire this car to a 287-hp 350z, when you think about it--- A Honda Accord has 2 more bhp than an RX-8! It is a crazy world.

The majority of auto owners will never modify their car, and many of those that intend to modify will wait until the warranty is up. Why should you have to pay more for something that was already intended to be there (more hp) and risk warranty claims being denied.
I read a lot of car boards, if you want to think it's just me entertaining you, that's your perogative. But I see what other car owners say about the RX-8, most of it relates to how slow it is or how Mazda screwed up. While these may be nieve statements, made by people that don't realize it's still a great car, they're still people that may have driven the car and bought the car if it did not have the stigma attached to it. A stigma that was placed there by Mazda, and a stigma that continues to grow as the dyno results of RX-8s make their rounds on the car forums.
Tell them about the International Engine (motors are electric) of the Year Award and they will laugh you off their forum. I'm not saying it's right, but it's the truth in many cases.

Sure it might not help sales directly, but this type of culture gives the rotary and Mazda a cult-like status, which has helped Mazda keep and develop a brand image. Mazda is using the RX-8 to build a brand image. In the U.S. the Mazda 3 and 6 are the money makers for the company.
That's my two cents,

JeupRX-8:
dont feel embarassed about having the same car as one of your seniors! Myself, I don't feel ashamed when beating the crap out of youngsters in the local MTB track or in the nationals ;-)

BTW: I'm 29, and don't forget money is not everything!

Oh I thought I was being nice about it. I could have said it in a rude way, such as "Z owners are ******* idiots," or, "Z owners are as ******* stupid as their cars are ugly."
Next time I won't bite my tongue.

That's the spirit! You should never hide your true feelings. I just think it's more mature to just say what you were really thinking and let it all out instead of trying to be sarcastic.
Enough with hateful remarks, can't we all just get along?
