my10ae 03-07-2004 08:12 PM

Try:

www.z.com or http://www.my350z.com/forum/

Another high-traffic forum for Nissan and Infiniti vehicles is Fresh Alloy. They have a section for Z cars, including the 350Z.

JeupRX-8 03-08-2004 08:56 PM

My best friend drives a 350z. It is definately a better buy than the Rx-8, but people must like high-revving engines?? I dunno. I would have bought one, but my dad didn't let me because he is my dad's employee, and that would be weird.

It may be a little bit heavier, but it is more powerful, faster, and it has more potential in the engine department. Don't get me wrong, I like my 8, but I think that the Z is better.

Huh? You're gonna have to explain that one to me, cause I'm not getting it.

The Z has it's strong points and is a fine car. As a matter of fact, it was the car that I was going to get when it first came out. But then came the 8 . . . As good as the Z is, you see head to head reviews picking the 8 most of the time for a reason.

Ike 03-08-2004 10:50 PM

Lost me there as well... In fact I think that's the strangest post I've ever seen made by an RX-8 owner, even the parts that made sense.

rotary-convert 03-09-2004 02:32 PM

i wish my dad would buy me an rx-8....guess i'll just have to earn mine

guy321 03-09-2004 02:41 PM

His friend is his dad's employee. I don't know why it would make it wierd though.

I am 18, a senior in high school... My dad wouldn't let me get a 350z because my friend (and also my dad's employee) drives a Z. It would be odd for a guy 31 to have the same car as me (18). Now ya get it??? And I do pay for my car, I just pay my dad monthly payments (roughly $450), the rest of my money pays for moding my car. My dad pays my insurance ($4,650 per year~~Daum!)

$4650 a year for insurance? What? You serious? What, did you get your license suspended? How many points do you have? I pay $2500 a year, and that's for 3 cars, including my 8...

That makes it only slightly more clear. Now let me get this straight, you're 18 and you're dad's employee is 31 (who may or may not be you're best friend as well). I still don't see how it would be weird. I'm 36 and I drive the same car as you - is that weird too? An 18 yr old having a 31 yr old best friend isn't weird? I'm sorry, I'm just having a hard time following logic that dictates that a 350Z is inappropriate for you but the RX-8 is not.

Now "i" before "e" except in "weird" is weird.

rotary-convert 03-10-2004 08:37 AM

at least he's taking responsibility..my pet peeve is kids getting a nice not cheap new car and knowing little about it...too bad you got the auto jeup...at the U here i see plenty 18-19 year old kids driving x5's and g-35 who probably don't even know how to put gas it them.... :(

I can sort of see his point -- I used to drive a BMW 328i, the same car my boss's wife drove...I always felt a little weird about that (and she and I are good friends, which is also a little strange).

Mike Ockstynee 03-10-2004 02:47 PM

I was parked at a red light and this guy had the same car as me and like whoa almost the same color. I was like "this is weird". So I rolled down the window and before I can talk he said "This is weird". Right then and there I knew I had to sell my car.

JeupRX-8 03-10-2004 04:47 PM

I am just saying that it is wierd for a 18 y.o. to have the same car as a 30-ish year old. I am in high school, they have a career. Thats all I meant. It is not odd to my family's friends, but it is a little bit to my dad's employee's that I drive a $30K car, which is better than most of his employee's. But I don't see why he thought it was such a big deal, beucase he has a 575 maranello and a 745i.

JSE RX-8 03-10-2004 08:56 PM

www.350zmotoring.com and www.my350z.com are the top forums for the 350z. used to be an active member when i was considering the Z before i got my RX-8. you can find out alot of information on those sites

JeupRX-8 03-10-2004 09:23 PM

my buddy with the Z car is a member of those forums... He is getting up there in mods. He just got a huge shipment of all the crap we are going to install next week, when he takes it out of storage.

Borla True-dual exhaust
Borla Headers
Injen Intake
Eibach Lowering Springs
Brembo Cross-drilled, vented, and slotted rotors
Hawk(?) racing brake pads
He also just got his sand-blasted and then power-coated anodized black at my dad's company (we have like 10 20" square finishing booths).

This puppy is gonna kick my ass at the track until I get my mods up. As soon as I get my lowering springs, 10" wide wheels, exhaust, intake, etc. I may come close to beating him at the track, becuase my car is lighter and it will help me in turns.

Im 16, i also paid for my own car, and paying $373 a month right now.

Before i started up PolakGraphics i hardly had $100 bucks for end of the month. My question is what the hell do you do to afford a $450+ a month and have enough money for mods!

how the other half lives...

Maybe he's still getting an allowance? I love the Z as well but let me point something out about how "great a car it is". I live in San Diego and frequently buy the "car trader magazine" for mindless reading and would like to point out that for the past 6-8 months I have yet to see a single RX8 for "re-sale" while I can choose from 2 dozen 350Zs on any giving month, you do analysis.
My philosophy is that many "seasoned" drivers found out they don't care for the "tooth-jarring" ride after a few thousand miles and the coolness of the looks wears off....

That's because there aren't nearly as many people "initially" buying the RX8 to make them eligible to "resell" it.

There's a thread somewhere on this board about the Feb 2004 sales for both company's and the Z is still outselling by almost 2:1, despite the fact that it's been on the market 3x longer. By sheer probability, the fact that there are more Z's sold logically means that there will be more Z's available for resale. Not to mention the fact that Mazda bought back those who might have wanted to resell their 8 at the beginning.

That's my analysis anyway....

JeupRX-8 03-12-2004 05:15 PM

In regards to "what I do"...

I am a senior in High School, I work 30 hours a week after school, on Saturdays, and Sundays. I am one of the Operations Managers of my dad's furniture company. I control all the ordering, shipping, stock, of all the parts and supplies of the company. It is a $20 Million a year business. I am very busy all the time. I live at home, so I pay for nothing; my parent's pay for my car Insurance ($4,650 a year.). All I pay is for my car (my dad payed cash for it, and I pay him back, he says I am learning responsability.. I say why don't you just give it to me for free.

I don't play sports anymore--- Although I would be all-state in Track & Field. I was offered full-ride scholarships from three D1 schools for football (Runningback). BUT, I turned it down becuase I am going to go to MIT for engineering. I am going to work for my father's company, and when he retires @ 45; I will be handed the company. By then, I will be driving a Ferrari (age 26), and I will hopefully be married.

Regards,

Troy J.

PoLaK 03-12-2004 05:21 PM

Best of Luck to you.

I won't make take jeers like your about to get about "yada yada has it to easy", sounds like your not the typical rich kid.

Though a ride in that Ferrari would be nice :D

JeupRX-8 03-12-2004 08:40 PM

You are correct. I am not the typical "rich kid". My dad earned his fortune, and he is making me earn mine as well. The comical thing is that my friends think that I am spoiled, when their parents buy them cars. My dad just gives me a loan, but hey I have already spent way too many years trying to persuade people's views about me. You are better off just living how you want to, and not worrying that much about what people think about you.
