Regardless of whether the STI or EVO is on the car list of a true enthuasist or not, the cars and the owners of such cars do not deserve to be labelled "STI...Stats Toy for Imbeciles" and such.

What's really funny about all this is on sites like srtforums, I have defended the RX-8 and been called a Mazda fanboi (go ahead, look it up). I do the same thing over there that I do here...when some idiot opens his big mouth and demonstrates a complete lack of knowledge on a subject, then I step in to give a little balance.
I guess I'm just used to NASIOC, where you are free to post "the other side of the story" without getting labelled a fanboi. Sure there are some fanbois over there (mostly teenage n00bs who don't know any better), but it seems to be a much different, more mature crowd. I'm sure the large number of non-Subaru owners in the OT forum helps this out. But most people over there understand that it's just a SUBARU. I personally would rather be driving an M3 than an STi or an RX-8. It's just a better car. I don't feel the need to bash the M3, however, because I am secure with my purchase.

I agree with Ike. The car is clearly targeted to women more so than the Evo/STi. But 99% of the world is going to interpret the term "chick car" or "good for chicks" or "prissy and feminine" to be derogatory.

Just remember this, nobody (Miata owners, VW owners, RSX owners, etc.) think they drive a chick car. But somebody has to be. That's your inspirational nugget for the day.

…glad to see I irritate you STI guys as much as you irritate me. Anyways, here's the arrogance that I refer to; so I'm not much of an enthusiast because I didn’t consider a STI or Evo eh? Pathetic.
I remember sending Subaru a letter back when they weren’t importing the WRX. I actually have a soft spot for rally cars, my dad used to wrench for the Ford of Europe team before we moved here. But I took a WRX out when they first came in, and realized that the AWD didn’t have the feel I liked. Always a weird transition between understeer and oversteer. Plus, having owned turbos, I hate the inherent way they hang on to revs after a shift, and waiting for the boost to spool is plain annoying. And having taken a 300km round trip to London (Ontario) in a colleague’s STI, I vowed to never buy a car with that stiff a ride. I won’t even get into the fact that IT IS an econocar platform with an econocar interior and body. So I don’t like ‘em, ok?????
But they go to 60 under 5 seconds, so not liking them is TOO HARD to understand for stat jockeys. I’m a bike guy first, so arguing who has the best stats on cars is meaningless to me when even modest bikes can handily dust off any “performance” car. Every generation seems to have a segment that are stat jockeys. I remember the 5.0 guys in my teens were the same types. But in evaluating a car, you don’t even know what you miss. There is a reason why Porsche doesn’t make turbo fours, yet they are still selling comparatively slow Boxters at twice the price. A car is much more than stats, an “enthusiast” would understand this, no?
Ps. Eric, I officially crown you KING OF THE DICKS

So then I guess an insecure, immature, whiny baby like yourself who feels the need to go into every thread and disrepect superior cars must be crowned a worthless sack of ****, no?

Man, get over it already, and stop the ***** envy. I don't have any problem with people criticizing the STI. Hell I do it myself, and I own one. It's about how you do it, and if you want to comment on a car, do it respectfully, and for god's sakes, back up your argument, don't run from it by laying out insults. People may not like the car, but why do they feel the need to rip it rudely? I already know the answer. INSECURITY. Yeah ok, the STI is not pretty. It's also fast reliable, and fun to drive. How can you go wrong with one of these as a second car? The car is flawed, much like the RX8. Every car has flaws. I do however, have problems with personal insults. This isn't about the STI anymore, it's about you being rude and arrogant. I won't resort to laying insults back, but I'm done talking to you, because you really don't have anything constructive to say.
For everyone else. We all have our own preferences regarding cars. Why does everyone have to be so insecure? Constant bashing of a car only means one thing. INSECURITY. This applies to many people, not just one individual. I just don't get the disrespectful, fanboi attitudes. There are lots of cars I'd never buy or want to own, but I am able to look at them and appreciate the intention they are built for. I guess I am a fan of all cars, and I have the ability to ignore negative remarks. I can't however ignore insults, arrogance and ignorance, and the bashing of other cars and their owners to make yourself feel better about your car and yourself. That is generally what takes place on this, and other forums. This guy 9291150 is just another example of that, but being 38 years old, he's in a class by himself.

Hey Viking, burger king let out? You got no cred man, I said one unfair thing about the STI - calling it a stat toy - and you so go off on me. Meanwhile, your STI buddies don't stop with worse comments about the 8, and you say nothing...no cred. How 'bout you avoid me and I'll do the same with you eh?
If any of you have looked though my posts, you've seen me point out 8 flaws. But if you come on an 8 site and CONSTANTLY thrash the 8, I'll let you have it. Don't like it, EAT ME!

Now with this post, you are trying to make it sound like we came in here with the sole purpose of bashing the 8 when the truth is, you were the one coming in here with the sole purpose of bashing the STi. Seriously, what planet are you on where you think you are in the right? But, just keep posting. With every post, you make it clearer and clearer that you are nothing more than an insecure, immature, whiny little baby.

Allright, I am going to make an effort to get this thread back on the course it originally was intended: An honest opinion of the STi limited: I saw this thing up close and personal at the NY Auto Show and I liked the appearance and equipped options - much better than the "regular" STi's, IMHO. Before I got my 8 (for the 2nd time, recently), I had heavily leaned towards a used EVO MR and did not really consider the STi. Even though performance was similiar, the EVO had done better in most reviews and I just could not get over how ugly the STi was. The new look of this years model and the addition of this Limited Edition really has changed my mind. I would, of course, reserve final judgement until I drove one, but I really liked what Subaru has done with this model. Now, if they only made it in black...:-(

Not saying all STI guys are like this, but I getting this "aggressive with ***** envy" vibe from their posts. "My car is faster than yours, yours is so slow..." Is this a projection on having a small peepee?

But, the real question here is, why are you so insecure about your car that you feel the need to post in every STi/Evo thread about how much you hate these cars? Obviously there is something about these cars that you fear. These are both cars that are loved by automotive mag writers and car enthusiasts alike. Yet you continually enter these threads to bash and call names. You're 38? More like 8. How about you go back to enjoying your Ambiguously Gay Duo ***** Car.

My opinion, I liked everything until they got to the heated leather seats and sunroof. I just don't want that crap weighing down my performance car, which is why Blueeyes is correct about the problem with packages. For instance, if I wanted to buy an Evo IX with HIDs like my Evo VIII has I'd have to buy the SSL package which is 3,120 and includes a heavy amp for the stereo, heavier leather seats, and a heavy sunroof.

Mazda did track tests obviously. Putting the 8 against the 6 (V6) and 3.
Guess who took the holeshot? The six and the three.
Guess who won? The RX-8. If i recall, the mazda6 v6 is very close horsepower wise (what 220 I think the site says and im positive torque is not far from it.) (THIS PORTION WAS PERSONAL OPINION and the track thing was from my friend's father who worked for mazda{currently at suzuki})
I have not driven an STI or EVO. But I personally would take the EVO over the STI just going by looks. They look more aggressive.
I'm only 18, and I am not bashing anything. I chose my RX-8 for many reasons. Feel, comfortability, and I actually test drove the car before I bought it, along with intensive research on them and reviews and what not. I just love the whole feel of the RX-8.
Yeah, that's bias because I have driven neither the STI or the Evolution, and I'm not afraid to admit that. I did however read reviews and looked at specs on both cars. I believe the three cars I was looking at was the RX-8, the Evolution VIII, and I believe the Mazdaspeed6. I just liked the RX-8's features better.
Sorry if this is out of place, but I figured I would break that stereotype of the younger guys "bashing" everyone else's cars that were not a RX-8.

^^ Maybe so.... the Legacy GT is actually pretty quick. The AWD sports sedan review had the Spec B. at 0-60 in 5.1 I believe. The 1/4mi was something like 13.7 I think. Sharing the long block with the STI... it's pretty easy to get it into STI hp numbers.
