Dumb question what is so great about this car?

I think I remember reading about it in C&D and don't remember if they were too impressed by it.

330 hp on paper (more in reality) small coupe/hatchback body. They weren't impressed with the 130 but the 135...holy crap.

It should be a quick car... quicker than the 335i if the engine tune and gearing are the same. However, my excitement is tempered somewhat because I've read that this small car weighs somewhere in the range of 3100-3200 pounds.

Nevertheless, I think this car has a good chance of being more appealing than the 3-series.

I'll be interested in what it looks like with the sedan and vert that comes over in a couple years.

common sense suggest engine would likely be detuned compared to the 335, not that it matters since a simple piggy back chip like the exede running a custom fuel map will probably free up more hp than stock 335 anyways.

I remember a few years back how BMW decided to not bring the 1 series over due to lack of demand or something similar in reference. Guess that has changed.

It has been said by several car mags from different countries to be more the 3 Series of old than the current ones. Lighter and more agile. The 130 M Sport was raved about in JDM car mag reviews. I imagine that the 135 will be a killer.

BMW is just stupid. Even Volvo is bringing out the C30 and Audi has the A3. If BMW didn't finally bring something over, they might as well hand the market segment over to the competition on a silver platter.

Lets hope it wont cost too much. The Twinturbo will be a killer. This car will be faster than just 'quick'

Another JC classic.... still IMO the 1st real glimmer of hope from BMW of a decent driver's car.... or not since the stig couldn't even beat the RX-8 with it. Time will tell....
