ugh..Joe, your rates are high because history and trending shows that young drivers cause an excessive amount of claims. Insurance companys are not in the business to loose money.

Well, as you noted, there was at least one other car on the road, pacing you. Besides, the point is that at the speed you were traveling in the dark, you wouldn't be able to see someone stopped on the road in time to avoid running them down.

And frankly, having driven the Garden State Parkway on many occasions, I'd dispute the claim that "nobody (is) on the road at 5:30 in the morning." The traffic may have been unusually light this morning, being a holiday for most people, but I doubt seriously that it's usually deserted. Unless, that is, the commute traffic has seriously lessened in New Jersey since I lived there 15 years ago...right. And as your other posts indicate, your speed this morning was not unusual for your commute.

The top 5 carriers will not insure a driver with 4 points or more. Only the bottom feeders insure 4 or more point drivers. These carriers charge super high rates. Similar to getting credit with a bad credit history. You will pay higher interest then the people with good credit.

I suspect your insurance with 5 points would be about $5000 a year for at least 3 years.

No, but it will be hard to find coverage at an affordable rate unless the judge reduces your point count to 3. That's where all the advice I gave comes into play.

Walk into court with an attitude like you have shown here and a chip on your shoulder, I predict a 5 point conviction.

it all depends on what the judge does...it could be 4...or you could have your lisence s taken away right on the spot. All depends on what teh judge deciedes to do...also if the poilce officer trys to help you out in court...you should try to speak to him/her prior to court starting....and try the whole..."hey i enrolled in a defensive/safe driving course...i realise i was a total moron...and although nothing happened i could've hurt inocent people...is there any way you can help m eout with the points?" but make sure you bring proff that you are in such a class......that is probable the best thing you can do to save you lisences and not have your rates go through the roof.

Those are called assigned risks. same rates as the bottom feeders. Joe MIGHT have a chance being a 1st conviction. I do not know if NJ is an assigned risk state.

Well, sounds like my girlfriend will be getting the 8 then. I refuse to pay that much to drive a car. Maybe I need to go back to the SUV. I still dont think I deserve all this. Everything isn't black and white Samson. You have no idea how I really drive.

Joe, you may be a great driver, young and alert, quick response time, etc. But the fact is that "good" drivers follow the rules and drive in a safe manner.

All I know of you is what you post. all you post is how fast you drive.

Call an attorney on Monday. Be prepared for the cost however, Traffic attorneys usually get about $2500-$4500 for these types.

No matter what, do not step into a court room without one.

no problem. slow it down. This little event is going to cost you about $4000 in court and attorney fee's and about $2000 more a year for insurance costs and $500-$1000 for a good drivers ed class.

4000$ yeah that sounds fair. I was only going 90. somebody going 80 wouldn't have to pay anything. You guys act like there is a big difference between 80 and 90 and 100 mph. There isn't that much difference.
