Interesting thread guys...hope it stays in Asia and the mods don't move it to Show & Shine. I've been waxing cars back in my hometown for years, usually using Rain Dance (a Dupont product, essentially cheap). Yet, the products nowadays make the past seem, well, like history. Had a look at the local Autoglym site (thanks Neon for the tip), here, and the super resin polish looks like the ticket. Don't think the sealant is necessary in this climate, IMO. I wash my current car about once a week, but with the 8 I'm sure I'll wash at least as frequently and will apply a good wax treatment monthly or perhaps every other month depending on how it holds up.
Thing is, when you have a car that you're obsessed about because it's such a great ride, nothing is too expensive and time is not an issue when it comes to keeping her looking her best

I've used Autoglym super resin polish before, not only it remove the dirt on the car, it take off the paint work as well! so be careful using that stuff!

I know what you mean Genesis, but personally, I dislike spending more than an hour a week cleaning up my cars. I feel that my time is better spent doing something more productive. Anything more than an hour a week and I'll be feeling like I'm a slave to my car. However great and wonderful the 8 is, it is still an inanimate object. To me, I buy a car to serve me and my needs, not the other way around and I would rather spend my time with the people around me that I care about. In fact, I would rather spend time with my dog than any car I have owned or will ever own.
Yes, I agree with you that paint sealant treatment is not necessary, but neither is a lot of things that people do or add to their rides. I wanna get the paint sealant done so that it makes washing the car easier (hopefully down to a simple splash and wipe dry) and also to protect the paintwork due to my expected lack of attention to thorough washing, polishing and waxing. *phew* Even talking about washing, polishing, waxing, cleaning and detailing is making me tired... ;P

Anyway, I would be surprised if Mazda bothers to have different painting processes for JDM and export cars. That wld cost too much.
As for waxing, I strongly recommend Zaino. Shine is very deep, way better than autoglym, and eagle one. Very easy to use too.

I am using Zymol for a long time. If u are swating too much under the sun, can apply some on ur body too. Good percentage of Carnuba wax and all natural, wont scratch ur precious car. Best of all, they tell u to use as sparingly as possible!!!!

Ok thanks Fab 8, but it's all too dang confusing.....
Can somebody recommend just a normal wax for their 8, people that wax often, but it's not a way of life like sgflyer said. I don't need to repel bullets, or bird **** for that matter.....just want to keep my 8 looking good.

tell you what, when my ride arrive, we share some of the stuff....then we wax the car together....after the initial coats, the rest would be like normal waxing i heard....cos you already got a few layers underneath....the wash contains wax also....then just apply another layer and wax normally. The reason why I would consider switching camp is that zaino is reputed to last several months.....some claimed up to 6 mths. Whereas other waxes would need regular re-waxing....meguires would last abt 3 weeks
