Unhappy Towing = Sad

Hi all! It was a sad day for me yesterday... me saw me X being towed off.

The battery light came on, then the DSC light came on, then the brake warning light came on, finally the srs airbag light came on...

Steering wheel was suddenly locked and X lost a lot of power. All this happened while me on highway at approx. xxx km/h... suddenly X just dropped to 30 km/h...

Has anyone else had this experience? Hope noone has had to see their X towed...

Maybe me X has to go...

Oh man..... that sounded serious!.....

Think I've read some similar experience someone else here on the forum. you might wanna do a quick search to find out first hand info, before anyone lay their hands on it.

Sorry couldn't help much, but i hope it's an easy fix!

I've seen my 8 towed before, but not because of that problem. Sorry to hear, hope it's back in your hands soon.

i had mine towed too, abt 2 wks ago. Pretty similar to your situation cept there was a bit of rough runnin prior. Freakin 6 in the mornin along ECP. Nearly knocked down by taxis n wad not when waving them to stay clear! CB....

Towed on flatbed to one of me workshop...pretty kewl sight tho. Real nice, ma chiam like goin to a car expo lukin back from the tow's rear view mirror....Hehe

Anyways, turned out the ******* E68 dat i installed a year ago was the culprit. Ther was intermittent or rather voltage spike rec from the throttle body thus me car just couldnt hack the erratic V and air vacuum eventually gifing up on me.... :D

Now. all's gd after taking out the piece of crap! Screw HK n Taiwan for always coming up wif these crappy shitty stuff.....Guess chinese ppl just cant produce quality stuff, $$ is the only thing on their mind.

Peace -_-)V

Hi naughty boy,

Had one experience with our showroom new 8. All the uncessary lights came out and the car refuse to move when u accelerate. Is yours the same problem?
We brought it down to ST power and they got it resetted. Dont know how they do it but it was fixed. Probably u would want to seek some help from them.
Hope ur x fast recovery.

On a serious note - me was told that this is a common problem with the RX, shared by the Fairlady Z. Apparently we don't have a steering pump - it's all electronic these days. Oh well... hopefully things work out.

Me would be sad to see me X go - X is not even 2 yet! And me lady not keen on me choice of replacement...

ya NB. is the same problem lah. When u accelerate it just move very slowly right? No power at all. From wat I think it should be the same prob. Just a resetting and it will not cost a bomb.

Dun worry so much , small prob lah!!!

Like M-ster said (thanks M-ster, but pls don't call me old! :o ) Me X from GR.

Me X's defi was installed very professionally - no complaints at all.

Btw, Watoke, why would MM make nosie about the defi? Even LTA approves it...

Thumbs up Update

X came home yesterday evening! *clapping* *wild applause*

The 2 culprits to blame for the regrettable & unfortunate incident - fuses.

Who would've thought???

As a bonus, the GR pros changed X's battery (over 1 1/2 years old).

All's well that ends well. Likely causes were my sleeping habits But pls don't tell me lady - cos me have nowhere else to sleep Or do I?

Kidding aside - pls get your fuses checked. Apparently 1 (or more?) are responsible for your steering.

On behalf of me X (who's busy resting), thanks to all for your concern & well wishes.

Oh, I din know that LTA also has approval for gauges. Coz when I did my 1st servicing, the Tech Sup say he's going to void my warranty, and I challenge him if he dare to void it because of Defi. He "L L" ..keep quiet. :D
Btw, is there any article or approval letter stating that LTA approved Guages, esp Defi?? Just asking .... maybe I miss that out on the article. :p

Well, LTA did approve installation of gauges provided you follows their rules.
Its on onemotoring.com.sg web site. check out the what's allowed and what's not, be surprise even intsalling a supercharger/turbo is allowed if done thru proper channel.

Hi! What M-ster said (i.e. onemotoring) is correct in general. Good for general guide, although you should note (it's stated there somewhere) that LTA is not 'bound' by the contents

What EBS said is more technical - what the law does not specifically disallow, the law allows. It's called the exclusionary view to construction/interpretation.

Me still trying to get pics of me gauges up... :o
