planning to install V-Kool... read from another tread that is we all install it together can get discount... have any 1 went down to ask ald?

Already did...and no...sorry bros, cannot install premier as it would fail LTA's regulation. But what the heck....

Ok...we went to check...they will cover warranty for premier....think the test is 71% after putting the film and 67% with the film on for VK75. Thus it is possible to use premier package. Actually that is not the best combo. The best combo is the mystique with a front upgrade to VK75 since VK75 passes the inspection. The difference is using VK40 at the rear and rear side passengers instead of VK70. Slightly more expensive but Genesis and I did it already.

Yeah, VK40 rear and VK75 up front...very coooool Noticed a big diff in lower heat generated in the pit while driving around today with my all black interior.

we did it for 950$ for VK75 front windscreen/windows/sunroof plus VK40 Rear windows/windscreen

does it look difference in colour , and y not VK75 for front and back or VK 40 for front and back . think this sounds silly , really ve no idea abt film . Thanks in advance .

Lucas, LTA regulations requires 75% Visible Light Transmission (VLT) through the front windscreen and front windows and 25% VLT through the rear windscreen and rear windows. Simply put, darker window film for the rear half of the car and lighter window film for the front half of the car. VK75 roughly means 75% VLT and VK40 roughly 40% VLT. Therefore, you CAN use VK75 for both the front and back but cannot use VK40 for the front and back because the front would not meet LTA's regulation of having 75% VLT for the front windscreen and front windows. Hope that helps...

As flyer said, VK40 is 40% VLT, therefore 60% of visible light is blocked...so it's darker. Get the 40 on the rear half of the car (rear side windows and back) and the 75 on the front half and still pass LTA. V-kool will even tint your sunroof if you have one.

Don't worry about the look...it's awesome and after driving for a few months with V-kool I can tell you it certainly keeps the heat down. Plus, comfort in knowing that it protects your interior in the sun as well

You may want more than the premier package. Premier is Vk75 front and Vk70 rear. But I would suggest you upgrade rear to VK40 which has amazing IR rejection. May not be extremely dark but sure do the work. If you want dark dark look, you can go for additional tint after v-kool as long as it passes the regulation. So I would suggest...ahem v-kool as base and some cheap but good looking stuff for the tint

i have done my homework on all other brands of solar films and cool n lite offer the best value for money. Heat rejection is the highest. (take note UV rejection is high on all brands, its the heat rejection that is important!!!!)

Brands that i have resourced:
1. ray barrier
2. tint master
3. perfect tint
4. nanolux
5. lumar
6. Lextint

None of them can match Cool n Lite solar film specs for Premier package. I did mine whole car for $600. 7 yrs warranty against bubbles, peeling and oxidation. They have 2 shades of black for you to choose as well. Very frenly and pretty asst sales manager. So far, I'm pretty satisfied with it cos my car is mostly parked in the sun, therefore i need a good spec solar film. Have no chance to compare with other brands yet, unless got pple with other brands want to park beside me then can compare. :D

I did not ask V Kool and Huper Optik as their economic package are oredi very expensive.

I would take any window tinting film's claims with a large pinch of salt. IMHO, it depends on what is most important to you. For me, tinting's most important benefit is the rejection of harmful UV rays that can damage your eyes and cause skin cancer. Almost all tinting films provide 99% or more UV rejection. VLT is not that important unless you intend to do illegal things at deserted places at night (and what thrill would there be if you can't be caught, right? ha ha...) As long as it passes LTA regulations, it's okay. Heat rejection is the only other criteria and personally, I don't think you can feel the difference between a few percentage points which translates to maximum heat soak after some time under the sun irregardless of how super your film is at rejecting heat. Nothing beats a proper sheltered parking, especially with all the birds in Singapore going about their "business" as usual.

At the end of the day, get a decent film that you're comfortable with and from an installer that you can trust to do a good job. Getting the best brand of window film is useless if badly installed. I know people who got their entire car tinted including sunroof for $200-$350 and you couldn't tell or know the difference from the more expensive jobs. Just my 2c.

If they apply a 2nd layer, it would be hard to remove the 2nd layer (if you ever need to) without peeling off and totally destroying the 1st layer. It's adhesive after all.

After tinting, I noticed that lights tend to have that sparking effect (many pointed ends). With 2 layers, I wonder if it will be worse. And if the films are polarised, then 2 layers not 100% in phase will progressively darken and eventually completely blackout the glass :D
