the oni thing nice is the back led tailights. the recardo seats look sharp too

If I'm not mistaken, there's actually one potentially important difference in the new model..... repositioned extra oil injector. Time will tell, but it might be critical to the longevity of the apex seals and the motor. Rotarygod might be speculating, but why would Mazda do it if they didn't think it was important?
