Servicing at MM

Its awesome.

The tech allowed me to use my own engine oil (Idemitsu Racing Mineral) AND strangely changed my engine mounting (as it was vibrating badly) for FREE too.

Car was idling at slightly over 1100 RPM previously and they tuned it somehow to the 800rpm or so.

The car is SO silent now at idle - its frightening. In fact when I first got in, I thought the engine was off.

I also put in the Mazdaspeed drop in air filter and the car is simply unbelievable now. Like new again. It is silky smooth and revs so easily where previously the engine would sound a little strained.

Not to mentioned they washed, waxed AND groomed the interior and seats for me too.

All I paid was a measly $61 bucks for the servicing....I'm in love with my car again. Its like your wife of 20 years has gone for plastic surgery and now has a 26 inch waist and 36DD's.

ROCK ON MM!!

Who is your SA? Must get him for my next service. Btw, you got your drop in filter from MM or was it your own?

hi

Must agree that as far as warranty is concern, MM has been most helpful basing my experience with them. They changed my engine mounting, w/o me even asking and the car always come back at the end of servicing clean and tidy.

Recently, my car was in there for some time and the SA even called me up to give me a progressive update about once a week (without me prompting even)....what else can you ask for.

I just dun like the fact that MM takes picture of my car during servicing and never ask me for my signature.

The consultant who attended to my car is a guy called 'Lim'. Never did ask for the rest of his name tho. Really nice guy.

The drop in Mazdaspeed filter was purchased from MM themselves and cost me slightly over $100. The diff might not be as major as using say a REVI induction kit - but it is definately worth the money as I can feel the car revving a lot smoother now due to the increased airflow.

This is the second time that I've serviced my car. First time with authorised workshop in Sin Ming and the only diff I felt then was the engine oil change - from that rough feel of the engine to a slightly smoother one.

This time servicing with MM, it is super smooth and I cannot recall the car being that smooth before. For MT owners, I'm sure you can attest to the fact that nearing servicing time, the car would fell a little strained and not very responsive to throttle inputs unless you really floor it. Also I've never had my car idling at such low RPMs before. Not even when I first bought it.

Also the engine now is a lot more free revving and its silky smooth. This may be a combination of both the Mazdaspeed filter and/or the Idemitsu Racing Mineral oil.

Either way I am really happy. Next time I go down I'll buy kopi for the techs at MM for sure! Must try Monster Garage next as I've been hearing so much about them as well....

hahaha bro, for me all servicing done at MM, coz still under warranty and have balance workshop voucher to consume. While all mods (handling mods)are done at MG for me, also tip top service all the time. Guess, not too many garage that knows our 13B better than them.

Hi Swerve76

Ur car is not under warranty at MM right? So what is the breakdown of ur costs? And they allowed you to bring ur own engine oil? That's cool!! How long did the servicing take? One day?

My car still has almost 2 yrs left on MM warranty bro.

They did allow me to use my own oil but I'd advise you to speak directly with a consultant beforehand. Servicing took like half a day but I left the car with them at 7:45am and picked it up after work. I always believe not to rush them bro - give em the time and they will be able to give your car a thorough servicing rather than a rush job.

As for the engine mounting - I did not ask them to change it directly. I just said that the dashboard rattled quite badly at idle and he just changed it for me. The steering rack should not be under wear & tear anyway so I'd tell them direct that you are aware that there are problems with it and would like it changed. Always ask for the original parts back - that way you know they actually did change it.

bro swerve, ur car is with MM. you mention wanting to service with MG. are there any concerns with not servicing with MM on the warranty? u may want to check that out before you do it.

personally though, i think PI servicing hard to beat MM servicing no matter where as i use to drive a MM car and now drive a PI so you may not need to consider servicing anywhere else. just two cents worth.

If you are claiming warranty, unlikely that they will give you the original part back coz they need to account for a defective part. If not, the system could be open to abuse where an SA can give replacement parts under warranty to all his friends even when the parts are not defective.

yup thats correct. Mazda(the manufacturer) owns the part since it paid for the warranty. Not the singapore agent.

dudes, my first servicing at MM should be up next week. any recommendations which centre to go to or should i just go to the main one behind the showroom?

the shell autoservs at toa payoh and commonwealth are closest to home and work for me but if the service at any particular workshop is good, i'd rather go there.

tnx.

I regularly service my 8 at MM even though my warranty is over....I must confess that I really like their service so far!

They have change my disc rotor and engine mounting FOC just before the warranty is up. I use their golden SM oil and after every oil change the engine somehow rev much smoother, you can really feel the different.

Servicing cost is surprisingly cheap too compare to Honda and Toyota car!

I recommend them to all bros who got your 8 from MM..... forget abt sending your car to Shell stations affiliates workshop of MM as I won't take the risk
