actually jammer did you see anything wrong with the deal cause it seems really attractive and i just have a feeling that something is not right.
what do you think? have you already asked the PI bout the details or the requirements for the contract.

1. Check OMV,
2. Check whether the list of accessories is complete,
3. Check the year the car was manufactured. The last thing u want is to get a car that had been sitting around some showroom/warehouse in Japan for the last 1.5 years.
4. Check the mileage on the car,
5. Check for hidden clause in the contract or deal.

opps.. sorry to know that u crashed yr RX8..
i dun think i wanna get a 2nd hand unless yr fren is selling really cheap..

i have nothing against yr fren or 2nd hand car but it is just that if buying a 2nd hand car over 100k, we will lose out alot on the interests charges and freebie etc..
main thing is the interests..
1st hand 2.3 - 2.45%, 2nd hand 2.9%
if u calculate the difference over 9 - 10yrs, wow!

Hi Sgren, actually i was also very sceptical about their package.
That is y i m still checking on it.
But it seems to be the best deal after I have checked w all other PIs.

1. Check OMV,
= 38 - 39K

2. Check whether the list of accessories is complete,
= Most of the things r in.
eg. 16in rims, leather, 6CD changer, 1/2 yr tax, reverse sensor

3. Check the year the car was manufactured. The last thing u want is to get a car that had been sitting around some showroom/warehouse in Japan for the last 1.5 years.
=They are now offering the model w immobiliser retractable key, cant be that old

4. Check the mileage on the car,
= i gotta wait until the car is in then can check

5. Check for hidden clause in the contract or deal.
= so far so good until i see the contract

Hi,
If the OMV is $38K, then the cost of car to the PI will be about $117K given:

- OMV
- Custom Duty (20% OMV)
- GST (5% of OMV + CD)
- ARF (110% OMV)
- Reg Fee ($140)
- COE (Assume $27K)

If they are selling u at $121K, then check if 6 mths or 1 yr road tax is inclusive (not much for the 8 though). Apart from this net margin, they should also be getting some commission from insurance and bank loans. If u are comfortable with the amount that they profit from this sales and think it is a fair deal (esp when compared with MM), then enjoy the car!... :D

P.S. One problem with PIs now is tat MM is bringing in the higher end Type S at OMV of $36+K to compete. Hence, u do see the PI prices being squeezed a lot to remain competitive.

One adv of getting from PI is that u may be able to change some of the stock items when u order the car. Up to now, MM still has limited options for the 8. Another is that u dun have to put up with poor customer service at MM.

MM's cost per car is a lot lower than PIs but their margin is a lot higher (about $25K). If they bring in the auto 8, think the PIs may be wiped out, especially with the uncertainty of maintenance capabilities.

hi there,
i went to huayang b4 i commited to my car 3 months ago, i was quoted $131988 subject to 2 bids. now why a sudden drop of price? is it a guarantee coe or subject to bidding?

i understand the dealers will usually make us commit to their car with their low price, and once we are tied down, they will frequently make calls to us to top up the prices. so be careful.

also, huayang's car doesnt come with the stock multi cd front loading cdplayer, they will give an after market cd magazine instead.

their cost will be around $117k, whats there to make to cover their overheads?
interst and insurance alone cannot help much on that...

Hi shirube, thanks for your comments.
3 mths ago, RX8 prices were indeed much higher compared to now.
I was also surprised to see the drop in price.

U r right that the 6 CD changer is fitted at the trunk.
That is y I opted for the 1 disc MP3 player fitted at the front.

The offer at 120,988 i got is subject to COE bidding.
But I told them clearly to state clearly at which level is the COE limited to.
They told me not higher than 26k, I can achieve my price.
26k is quite reasonable i think.

hi jammer, its will be a steal if they are letting go at $121k. but make sure that you dont be tempted by them to pay extra so they can release the car to you 'immediately'.

one good thing about huayang is that they have so many stocks that you can choose whatever colours you want!

Hey guys, my two cents:
$120K or $121K seemed a good deal. Didn;t know price dropped that much over a few months.

Most important, is this garranteed COE or there is a cap, then you have to top up. This is the typical ploy by PI. At the end, you will be pay higher.

Not higher than $26K? That means u will not get the car if COE goes above $26K?

if the COE is over $26k, they will call u to check if u wanna top up the difference just before the bid closes.

I'm new to this site n new to rotory engine. I want to get a rx8. not particular with auto/m, new or old. went to both Hua Yang and MM today. can someone help me with the following questions(SE of both plces can't answer)?
1.does the PI has electric seat, DSC/LSD?
2.what is this oil coolant cooler duct next to the front fog light MM claimed?
3.MM claim theirs is 3 port and PI are 2 port. what's this port?
4.PI claim they have their own garage, but decline to name it. Anyone know the garage n is it competent? is it really cheaper than MM for svr n parts? PI claim that if i buy from them, ALL servicing labor is free. Charge only material, true?
5.Any one actually got RX8 fr Hua yang? any prob with the top up COE, diff accessories etc?

I know what you meant... but unfortunately, you mentioned about the electric seat being standard only on the E-spec auto right after you talked about the DSC/LSD being standard on the manual regardless of whether it was PI or MM. So I thought it might be a bit confusing/misleading for tkk. :p

BTW, I'm back in SG liao!!! heh heh... :D :D :D
