You have to rebuilt you engine maybe twice earlier than NA and endure extreme heat.... If you don't mind those, you already conquered your fear....

 

thanks for ur experience. wondering why it has to be this bad, is it becoz our renesis is not suitable for turbo or there isnt any good tuner in malaysia for renesis?

 

its mostly cause the RENESIS has a higher compression ratio and also coz its already highly stressed already.....

13B Twin Turbo = 255ps (1992-1995), 265ps (1996-1998), 280ps (1999 up)
13B MSP Renesis = 250ps (Type S)

*** Notice that the RENESIS produces almost the same amount of power WITHOUT the aid of turbochargers..... Purely NA form....... Power comes with a price.... BUT..... what the hell..... im gonna Turbocharge my 8 anywayz..... My previous 7 was hell of a lot faster than my 8..... I miss my ported rotary monster 7.... now all ive got is a pussycat like 8.... hahahahahaha

bunga api earlier......bunga api later..... whats the difference..... point is, will definately bunga api eventually....... Might as well bunga api with a lot morre power then only worth it....... I'd give up a lil reliability for a 30-40% increase in power....... but it prolly be a good idea to keep a spare engine lying around to minimise car down-time........ a couple spare housings, gasket kit & apex seals/side seals/ corner seals wouldn't hurt either......

 

Alternatively, i even thought of getting myself a Ver.9 Subaru STi Spec-C for my power hunger pangs + to quench my trackdays thirst......

 

Higher compression engine often not a good base for repetitive revving, but in term of response is superb. I'm trying all sort of stuff i can find to eliminate the heat, next i'm gonna try using water wetter, custom oil cooler duct, water injection and battery relocation. if temp is stable below 110 degree it should be ok. That day i went up Ulu yam, temp. was quick to reach 115. Hope those mod can help a bit.

If you choose piggyback, it should be easy to tune. Amoil, Links and Viswork can tuned it.

 

That is common. Lordson, there's lot of people like that. They don't care about the life of the engine. They probably have other cars as daily car. To some modding is a hobby or fun to them, i'm one of those. I knew some fellas who spend RM400k on GTR but seldom drive it. Buying car is not a form of 'playing car', it's how you mod it to stand out from the crowd.

 

wow! 115degee is consider overheated i think?! did you open your hood vent cover when driving it? i remember i read about method of heat elimination somewhere else in this forum, and i believe your car already has few of these mod, such as vented hood, ecu remap to make the fan start earlier at 85deg, bigger radiator etc. still cant do the trick?

it's quite true, and modding is endless. there are always parts in the modding list.
what really hurt the pocket is not buying the car, but modding it.

Yeah..... agree with lennon.... modding is a hobby which also happens to be fun.... Engine mods are especially rewarding....but....only if u get the rite workshop to help u out with mods that u can't do urself..... otherwise...if u get the wrong mechanic/workshop, modding ur engine can quickly turn into a NIGHTMARE (hahahah....im talking thru experience....)........

If i didn't like modding cars....i'd have just gotten me a Volvo instead.....hahaha....but then again, i'd prolly mod that out with HEICO performance products......muakakakakaka........

Sadly i dun have Rm400k to mod my car.....but at least i do have a diff car as my daily driver whick makes my Rx8 a weekend car for when im feeling frisky......

 

buying the car is the cheapest/easiest part..... .....modding it gets very very expensive...... it'll burn a big hole in ur pocket...... haiya.....

yessss....... thats the price u pay for getting a high revving rotary...... Even if u buy GTR R34 also will Merdeka eventually.... actually costs more to fix than RE..... RB26 has an issue with its main bearing.....if that bearing burn..... pokai lorrr......hahahaha....

how soon to have brown engine in term of mileage if it's a turbocharged? 15k km? 20k km?

rebuild every 100k KM ? rev more ? or only change apex seal every 100,000km
