I am new to the RX8 world. Today just went to see the RX8 for the first time and my God, it is really a car that impressed me...BTW, what are fender strakes and rear crests?

What other exterior mods can be done to the car?

Also, how is the performance of the car, for example, as compared to a WRX?

hi....

fender strakes - fins that are attached for the side of the car(near front fender)
rear rotary crest - a rotary emblem that is attached to the rear bumper.

Exterior mod....plentiful. Buy issue #96 of hyperev to start your training.

performance....wait for the essay writers to write (flyer...emperor.. etc)...they write long long paragraphs....very detailed. mine is very simple....no fight with the wrx. no horse run.

 

Thanks for the info. I went down to one of the PI and they offered about 92K (4AT) and comes with 6-disc changer and reverse sensor....good deal or not?? Can ask for leather seats and spoiler??
BTW, anybody out there install triple gauge or something at the middle of the dashboard?

 

Not going to write essays... just trying to keep it simple. There is little point in comparing an naturally aspirated (NA) car against a turbo-charged car, but if you just want an approximation of performance, a stock 6MT RX-8 is comparable to a stock Legacy GT. Legacy GTs being auto is slower than a manual WRX.

 

Dealer just rang me today. Car will be arriving within 1 months time. Finally!!!

Hmmm so are you the one that bought a white shinka from WOW? ironically i walked in not long after you (if it IS you) and got a red AT. Dealer said some guy booked a white shinka and put in a lot of mods into the order with mazda japan. Heh

oh so you're the one with the super long list of things! I picked a red RX-8 cos now i work long late hours so its a bit hard to wash car myself. How often are you going to wash ur car? Just asking cos I used to drive a 1979 white honda accord hatchback (looked a bit like the AE86 but without the character of the initial d tofu car) that i hand washed every 2 days to keep it looking nice.

 

Dunno, probably be washing it once a week. The car is parked uder cover most of the time, so I most probably will oly wash it o Sundays. Just can't wait for it to arrive.

 

World of Wheels rang me, the car will arrive at the showroom on Wednesday. Once inspection is cleared, It's mine to drive away early next week. Guess will see you guys again if you're meeting at Kallang on the 14th April.
