dun worry guyz, tats somtin call a 'speed-cut defencer' wich eliminates tis so-called speed cut.juz gv it a tout, due to the 'gentlemen rule',all the japs cars r speed limited to 180km/h & 280bhp no matter;hw many cylinders,hw many turbos,hw much c.c. the car will b.but yet their R34s,eifinis,supras can perform like monsters in streets & circuits.all can b 'lifted' easily.
not really worried bout the 231ps version.usualli,it was de-tuned by an additional cat to meet the euro 4,juz like the STIs units bought in by MI.
wat's the headache is,s modern cars r gettin smarter, any attempt to 'lift' all tis 'gimmicks',will trigger the engine chk light.

Hi everyone on the Singapore tread. I am new to this forum and would like to buy a RX-8. I need some advice as I am interested to get the Type E with the sports suspension, Bose 9 speaker, DSC & LSD, without the sunroof and sports 18" Tyres. How much is it going to cost me from PI? I heard from Car Times that the insurance is classifiying the 4AT standard as a 4 door sports.

Hi guys
I find it quite strange how Mazda Singapore seem to be giving such a low level of customer service. First they don't bring in the AT model, and now they don't even let customers customize their cars. What is going on with them?
Also, I'm a bit surprised that NAV isn't offered on the PI cars. I would have thought they would be able to order that option on their cars from Japan. The pop up screen looked so cool in the TopGear review. Such a waste.

Cuscorex,
I have asked around regarding that, bacisally its because of the so-called version dats limiting that right now. Its CAN Interface and not the typical Civics and others. DAts y even an APEXI cant lift that right now.
All i know is u need to replace an ECU to make dat work. Japan might have better solutions, Its all that i know for now.
ST bringing in one if uall are interested as brought up by RX_666
Cheers

MS vs PIs
Hey y'all,
Another newbie to this forum, so hope you guys can help me out. I know this topic is probably getting old, but just wanted to get some of your views before I commit to spending $140k...
I'm considering getting a RX-8 from MS because I've got a good friend working there so he's giving me a good deal (heard that before, right?). I haven't had time to check out what the PIs are offering, so I'm wondering if who's package is better?
MS offering their "canned" 6MT for $139,988 (COE incl)
231ps/Sunroof/6SRS/DSC+LSD/18"rims/Electric seats/HID/
6CD in-dash changer/Steering wheel audio control/Rear spoiler/
Keyless remote
Not available -
9 Bose (not important to me, though I'd like an MP3)
No spare tyre (only repair kit)
The biggest thing that bugs me is the 231ps. Already test drove the 250 6MT in AU and it didn't give me as much kicks as I had expected so I'm skeptical about the 231. I read in a previous thread that the 231 is mainly because it's the Euro spec with tougher emissions requirements. So does that mean it's just a simple case of changing the exhaust system because I think I'd be doing that anyway. Anyone has any opinions about the 231 vs the 250? How about fuel consumption?
What are the PIs offering? MS also does not have MazdaSpeed accessories, so would I be able to get accessories from PIs? Are PIs as willing to help if you didn't get your 8 from them?
Too bad I missed the last meet at Kallang, but I would like to meet up with any of you guys separately coz I don't think I will be around in Singapore for the next meet unless it's sometime soon. Will be going to Brisbane for 3+ months soon, so I'd like to book my 8 before I go and take delivery when I come back. If anyone is free to lim kopi with me (on me of coz), SMS me can? 96318100.
Alvin.

Current9,
Unfortunately, I haven't got much FIRM info about the cause of the loss of bhp. Not sure if it's just the ECU mapping or does it extend to the hardware. Either way, doing anything major would probably void the 3 year warranty from MM. So unless you don't care about the warranty, I would suggest putting off any major plans to regain the lost bhp until after the warranty is over. It would also give you some time to source out some good proven mods. I would probably just go for some "non-invasive surgery" to pinch back some lost bhp while it's still under warranty.
I guess I have come to terms with the 231ps, although a little grudgingly, but I don't think it will be a total dud nor an unreal mccoy. If it REALLY matters to you, then you would have gone with the 250ps from any PI and maintaining the warranty would not be an issue.

Yeah it is due to the ECU mapping that causes the loss of bhp. In fact some guys are already having some easy mod on their UK RX8. One of the few options they are doing is having the piggy back canzoomers mod cost around USD 600.00 or the GReddy E-manager for about USD350.00. The latter has got more option as in you can manually tune almost everything by yourself but then the drawback is you can totally mess up the sys. Or else the canzoomer is more like a fix plug and play piggy back sys where everything is pre-programmed by the manufacturer. But I would personally prefer the canzoomer since you can just detached it and everything will be back to the factory defaulted setting.

Hey guys,
Wondering who here has booked their RX-8s from MM. Is there a list existing 8 owners and owners to be? If not, let's start one. For those guys who booked their units from MM, did you guys managed to get any discounts?
I'd be interested in mass ordering accessories, count me in.
