its not only that u need to order from US, but the source are not even there, u need to be in u.s. to get those parts, the links in some website that claim to carry those stuffs are not working. u can't buy from them, even u send them email there is no reply.

yeah, you're right. especially the mod to get the sound from the pc into the head unit. don't know whether it'll work or not. to get the pc to work definitely can.

 

actually for me i have a pda phone and an extra laptop, for me to get the sound into the speaker is secondary. getting the electricity to charge my pda and touch screen comes 1st.
i would only want a touch screen with usb so i can go internet of wacth movie in my car when i connect my pda to it. i think and hope these kinda touch screen mnitor will be available in the near future in malaysia. USA is selling them for US$300+ though.

 

i don't know . maybe when i go back to us next month i will do some search . i doubt so cause i am in sillicon valley not car valley :P Maybe there is some but hard to search also .

I just booked a RX8 6-Speed today. I will test drive it tomorrow before I decide on getting it. Can you please give me some pointers on what I should check on the car especially on the engine part? it says 4K on the meter, I really doubt that's true since it's a 2003 model. But the outlook of the engine sound and the engine comparement looks news to me..:-) .

I bought my 2003 with 3000 km on odometer. The interior and engine compartment also looks almost new. You might've gotten one off a very careful owner who rarely drives it. I was told that the digital odometer is impossible to be tampered with, but that could've very well be the salesman's pitch

As to what you should look out for, nothing that differs from test driving other cars. The usual... engine sound, electronics, absorbers, tyres etc.

I know this may sound weird but with 4000 clicks, there should still be the 'new car smell' in the cabin. I saw a '03 with 9k and it still smell brand new. And off course the normal checking procedures. Have fun with it. I know I am

4000km only? lol. odo can be adjusted, thats what my friend done to his toyota cygnus. hope yours is not. tyre wise, should look like brand new, coz only done 4k.

-kick the tyre a few times, to hear a solid 'thud' sound
-then 'kok-kok' on the body a coupls of times, (test hardness)
-then get inside the cabin on the diver's seat do a 'static dirve' (act like u r driving the car, but actually not)

Yes, I found the specs I wanted, finally. I will do more check tomorrow once I get to test the car. So far, the car does gives me a brand new feel to it as I have seen 10 over RX8 for the last 2 weeks. So I hope the 4K on the odo is real. That's why I didn't hesistate and book it immediately..:-).

More questions, do you guys have a regular service center for rotary engines? Can you recommend me. If you guys are planning for TT session, count me in.

 

i have to smell more tomorrow...hahaha!!. anyway, it does looks new to me. I believe it could be a weekend car or a demo unit in japan.

 

lennon, may i ask what engine oil u use for your 8?

 

Brand new and FYI the original tyres are of Bridgestone RE 040.

Also remember to:
1) Check on any engine vibration when idling.
2) No Fog inside head lights, tail lights and indicator lights.
3) IMS kit is inside the car boot (Tyre puncture repair kit)
