Put Apexi Turbo timer, Greddy Full Auto Timer or HKS Turbo Timer..... All got timer but consists other different functions..... With turbo timer installed, your car can be start up easily and cool down...

I think they are talking more about the car cooling down, hence the other guys are telling you to do a turbo timer. It will keep the car running what ever is needed until the necesserry parts are down to a specified temp.

If you are worried about the problem with flooding (to much fuel in the wrong spots when starting), it really only happens when you turn the car on and then off again without the car getting the revs up. The answer to that is to give the car a good rev and then kill the ignition while the revs are still high.

Guys, thanks for the advise. Do you know Andrew that I have posted a similar scenario of revving the car before switching off to burn any excess oil in some other forums and also read a thread in the US regarding this. In fact, the RX-7 guys the other day were also discussing this point. There seem to be 2 school of thoughts. One says u shouldn't be doing it as by revving the car, more fuel will go into the engine thus causing flooding but another point of view is that it must be done and in fact is recommended in the owner's manual for 8s sold in the States (I can't confirm as I am waiting for my manual bought from e-bay) . Not being a mechanic or a person who knows the inner workings of a car, honestly I don't know the answer. Any sifus care to comment?

I dont think revving it before shutting down the engine is proper thing to do... Thats how flooding come about.... But why you so worry about flooding?? Putting on turbo timer n let the engine to shut down properly will resolve the problem...

ok here we go......

went to my mechanic yesterday to my surprise he was already fitting my oil cooler before my oil temp gauge so i won't be able to get a before and after reading, however the reading after fitting the oil cooler should be much lower.

the HKS oil cooler is a round 30% larger than the oem's which suggest a higher flow of cool air. It comes with a Air diversion plate ( what i call it) which diverts air straight into the oil cooler. The HKS oil cooler also comes with its oil pump as it is an additional unit for the RX-8 instead of Replacing the oem one. The quality of the hose is as you can say HKS quality.

At this point of time this is how much i can say however pictures will be included to justify my findings.

HKS shot

Another HKS Oil cooler shot

nothing like HKS quality

The factory oil cooler

How significant is it to add another oil cooler to the car?

Adding another oil cooler is better than anything on earth. I can feel the difference on the track after 5 laps. The oil temp is cooler than my head!

It never go above 100 degree in my 10 lap in near 30 heat. And the oil boiling point is 130!

My friend in a JDM DC5 with a stock oil cooler is 150 and changed to a TRUST one still gets 115!

2 oil cooler =

I have the MazdaSpeed one; which has 2 row less than HKS, but it works well and comes with the metal connecting rod that screw into the right places - so no daggling wires or plastic locks to keep the hoses still .

I love HKS bTW. Does it look difference from stock to HKS (since HKS is silver and OEM is black/copper like
