LSD For The 8

Guys,

Just confirmed my order for the 8 and it seems there is an option for LSD (limited slip differential) I think?! Me think something like traction control lah.... It costs about an additional 1k, so dun really know how useful it is.

Any of you bros out there have any experience.... and does it really make a difference at all?

Also looking for custom decals, so if any of you guys know of any contacts it would be much appreciated.

Cheers guys.

Hey Tincup, this is a brief explaination of the LSD. LSD works around the rear tires of the car. Its a device where it controls the speed of both rear tires. LSD is essential as it give you more control around corners, meaning you won't have the inner tire turning slower than the one on the outside. LSD is a must for drifters as it help them alot while drifting. In short its just like subaru's all-wheel drive except it works only on the rear as we all know Rx8 is FR type.

Cheers! (correct me if i gave a wrong explaination)

As for your need for custom decals, in an earlier thread, informed another member on a place in Ubi some friends had their decals done not too long ago. Positive feedback.

Hi tincup, your 8 is 6AT or 6MT? You ordered it from MM or PI?

Thanx for the comments guys. Bought my the 6AT in velocity red from PI. Intending to do it up like "Lightning McQueen" from Cars the movie, since my little 5-year old absolutely loves it - thus reason for the decals.

Guess I might have to seriously consider the LSD option, was told it is about 1k more.

I would say get the LSD - it's saved my *** a few times. This is my first "powerful" RWD car and of course people are going to F-up. The 1K you spend is 100% worth it when it saves you from wrecking a 30K car

Absolutely agree... the LSD is essential... but i wonder why would they leave it as an optional thingy... funny as by default most modern day FRs should have it installed... Do consider carefully, its there not as an additional function but it gives more "drive" to driving a FR...

Cheers...

huh? having a LSD saves you from wrecking the car?

LSD is to transfer power more evenly to the rear wheels. doesnt mean not having one, you'll wreck the car.
