INXS 06-18-2006 10:39 AM

There are other PIs avail... choose wisely..

jccm09 06-18-2006 11:16 AM

ani reconmendations???

INXS 06-18-2006 03:55 PM

Have you done your homework with all the PIs and their after sales support?

Lexus SC 06-19-2006 10:05 AM

I read from the Straits Times Classified that some PI selling the RX8 at $81,888. Seems like COE included too.

So what's the catch here?

Freestyle 06-19-2006 10:24 AM

Some require you to take a near-full loan for 10 years to qualify for their $81,888. So you can imagine how much interest you'll be paying on top of the super cheap basic price they advertise. Or they will tell you that CD changer not included, fog light not included etc... so by the time you top up, woo hoo... same price or more than other PIs.

I think many bros will advise going for the more reputable PIs rather than being attracted by such low advertised price. This is a very common rouse in all industries, so there's nothing new. It works on the bargain hunter mentality... and given that a car is a big ticket purchase, I'd rather pay a slight premium using a straight forward pricing by the more reputable PIs than haggle over every item with a low advertised price dealer, get angry or worried that some things may not turn out the way I wanted. If I'm buying such as great car as the RX8, I'd want to be very happy when the car arrives. So paying a couple k more for the assurance and peace of mind is important to me.

If you still think that the $81,888 is a real bargain, see if you can get an experienced bro from this forum to go check out the deal with you. Then post your findings here... :)

chua_richard 06-19-2006 11:10 AM

I bot mine from them, damn lousy service. Promised you a lot before sale, but once sign on the dotted line, different story. Was promised a built-in 6CD changer, got a Sony RF one installed in my boot instead. WTF!!

Was so pissed wanted a refund, end up one big quarrel. Rebate come, yes, but very long after the promised date. One of the rebate cheque had my name spelled wrongly, so chase them all over again.

Avoid them at all costs!!

dun scare me , bro....i am going to book thru them.....mind telling me which is the lousy sale?? How come they can give you the wrong stuff ? is it not written in black and white ? thanks

INXS 06-19-2006 02:53 PM

Be a prudent buyer and safeguard your interest. The next thing you know, with all the freebies in as promised, the OMV of your car is btw 25-28k. To my knowledge, PI cars should be btw 29-33k.

However, murphys law will always kick in. Last resort will be taking up to CASE where theres a returning policy(for hire purchase) incepted couple of months back.

Write in BLACK and WHITE is also useless. cos they know that the proceed will be a very very lengthy one even if we complain to CASE.

The best place to buy a PI car will either be Garage R or Car Times.

car times quite good. had a painless process. no monkey business also all very straight forward.

mandotcom 06-19-2006 10:16 PM

Car time, Money to them is like not important....

Me and my friend when to see their used 5series BMW (about 15units), Audi & Volvo. All their used Cars very nice and less then 1year, but price almost new too. hehehehe

Yes CAR TIMES and GarageR both are not Cheap. But no monkey business..

as Car Times is ISO certify and Garage R wanted to maintain a Good and High reputation.

In Conclusion.

IF its Cheap , it may give come trouble and headache after u had signed on the paper.

But if u want trouble free, then it will never be cheap

MUST GIVE AND TAKE...

mandotcom 06-20-2006 12:47 AM

totally agree..........

ISO certify do NO Monkey business. But is just how they bid on CEO (4times max, 1st 2 time try their luck, to bid the lowest) and how they work on their OMV. All PI cars price is almost the same price.

HY Carz got their stock from Hua Yang (related) and all documents signed on are from Hua Yang (Also ISO certify) but checking on prices, different. HY Carz Cheaper. This is ISO - NO monkey business matter.

buying from PI is all the same, is a lot depand on price and also after sales servies.

But buying car from lady :hippie: sales person is depand on what and how they wear/ dress that day... :Eyecrazy:  hahahahaha

Freestyle 06-20-2006 02:35 AM

I bought my RX8 from CarTimes, but secondhand, not new. Every company sure got some complaints, but it's the ratio of complaints vs satisfied customer. For me, it was straightforward and there was no trouble. Like I mentioned before, I hate to get into conflicts and I want my car purchase to be a happy process. So while it wasn't the cheapest place to buy, I felt assured that I won't get screwed on the backend or after I sign on the line. I'm just a satisfied customer, not related to them in any way.

Of course, I'm not saying they will certainly not play punk. But the chances are lower. My friend gave me a very good advice. He said in life you can have 2 of the following 3 things: cheap, good or fast.

Cheap and good = not fast
Fast and good = not cheap
Fast and cheap = not good

:rollingla :rollingla :rollingla

Emperor 06-20-2006 10:29 AM

That's what the salesman said to me... :Peace: But he said cartimes no more 8s... How about world of wheels? Are they reliable?

hmm read a few pages already and search on 'PI' but no results shown...I deeply appreciate if any experienced bro here is kind enough to guide me in the pre-purchase process

Thanx for your fast reply bro! By the way, what else should I look out for when negotiating with them? Is yours a 06 model? Does it come with leather seats? If yes, did you top up for it? Does your 8 comes with back windscreen tinted? I thought only 1 set of keys is retractable and the other spare is not. Pls advice. Sorry for asking so many question as I'm a first time car buyer and I'm worried abt buying from PI.

chrisViper 06-22-2006 11:04 AM

FYI Hy is a sub of Huayang. dont ever go the huayang turfcity branch looking for a rx8. i had the worst service there ever! they know nothing bout the car, 99% bs. trust me, the disgruntled ex-customer...

CoupeM 06-22-2006 12:24 PM

My fren had a bad experiece too....without even going down to HY. He wanted an auto rx8 back then.

Mine's a 2006 model. documents say that it was shipped out Japan on May 2006.
Mine's leather but taken it away to have it dual coloured :)
Default is black leathered. For my keys, i was told both are retractable.

My only worry is the servicing, will they do it properly?
For that i need to ask the 'old birds' here.

haiz i went to the Ubi branch, same thing ....dun know much. but sometimes also depends on the sales that attend to you.
anyway, i just booked mine with HY, now waiting to get the car.
Can anyone advice me on where is the best place to get the accessories like the front and rear crest and the aluminium fuel cap?? Appreciate it, cheers.

chrisViper 06-23-2006 11:47 PM

lawreo is right, alot depends on the sales person attending to u (ask for a more senior sales to attend to u shld solve this) , and alot of luck too. i guess i was unlucky. nevertheless they had the cheapest price at the time. however, make sure that everything is written in black and white and signed. ie. when car will be delievered, and 'freebies' like leather and cdchanger must be fitted by the time u get ur car... because mine got delivered weeks late, and i drove my car for nearly a mth listening to only radio.
as for accessories, so far i think garage r and monster garage are the best. check them out...

SGRX8 06-24-2006 12:24 AM

I bought mine from HYCARZ and found a set of rubber plugs in the dashbox. Spent a day researching the net to discover that you need to install them post shipment. Dat means PDI job is poor.
And as for the advertised price...............buyer beware! Sign your life away! As for workshop related issues, no comments yet but would appreciate any info from u members of our club.
Cheers and keep smiling.

Emperor 06-24-2006 12:27 AM

I still have the rubber plugs. Whats it for?

jccm09 06-24-2006 12:36 AM

wat do u mean by sign ur life away , bro sgrx8? u mean there r hidden costs? wat specs did ur 8 comes wif since u bought frm hy carz

SGRX8 06-24-2006 12:48 AM

Rubber plugs -- if you peep under the car, you'll notice some strap lines and near by there are 'holes' the same size as those rubber plugs. Pop it in, it fits nicely.

Signing my life away -- happened when I paid the 5k deposit. Realised later and after the euphoria that the quoted price is no where near the true price. Example, most agents quote the OTR price but PI's tend not to do that. I approached HYcarz when they advertised at 89.9K and at that time MM was around 117K. I thought there was a 30K differential but alas realised later (after the euphoria) that the PI price was closer to 98K. Plus the specs was bare minimum (for 4AT).

And to all the bros out there contemplating PI cars; take your time; sniff around and ASK for the OTR price. That's the only way to make an apple/apple comparison.

Cheers to all.

Jimmy(wow) 06-24-2006 12:57 AM

Pi

To all out there, I agreed with SGRX8...It true, u have to know what the On The Road price but there still risk there cos the OMV might not be the actual wan when they promise u..Just have be careful...Anyway if u guys out there have any doubt, can help u clarify even though u dun purchase from us. Thanks.- Jimmy

chrisViper 06-24-2006 04:45 AM

wahhh thanks SGRX8! now i know wat to do with those plugs....

lawreo 06-24-2006 04:51 AM

hi SGRX8 ,

if you really have time , pls take some pics and share with the bros here ....mine coming soon....also got from HY ...are those plugs always found in the glove compartment ??

SGRX8 06-24-2006 06:13 AM

I found mine in the glove compartment. If you look under the car just behind the front wheel you should see a couple of holes; I think they are anchor points used during the car's shipment. I dread to think of how much muck and mud will be splattered inside them without those plugs fitted.

And as your car is coming soon, please remember to adjust the tyre pressure. I found the delivery tyre pressure on my car set at 56psi. I covered 200km in the car before discovering I was driving on 'explosives'.

Despite all of the above, the 8ight is the best car I've ever driven. Better than the 3 series.

Now I am eyeing the 6AT. Any feedback from anyone?

lawreo 06-24-2006 06:25 AM

thanks for the reply , SGRX8.
i am so anxious now thinking about my 8 , sian

I understand how you feel. I had a terrrible 2 months wait.

I have not yet installed the plugs yet. Always have chance but always forget.

wiL50n 06-24-2006 11:30 AM

lawreo....I'm more sian than u lah. I have to wait for 3 months for mine to arrive in sg...hopefully it will take shorter time.

huh? you mean you are still waiting for the car?
did you ordered from MM?
i think its faster by PI.

SushiFan 03-10-2007 09:11 PM

how about the servicing provided by Super Workshop that serves Hycarz? Anybody has any feedback?

Red Shinka 03-12-2007 11:15 AM

Booked a copper red 'shinka' model in Mid June 06 and took delivery on 1/8/06. Bought it from Garage R at $116,800.00.

Everything was hassle free and service wise both pre and after dely was pretty good. (Already went for 3 service checks)

And more importantly, they are themselves specialist in 'performance' cars including the RX8 so no need to worry abt aftersales service.

If you are a sotong like me on performance specs, I agree wif bros here that Garage R is one of the better choices to get your 8.

SushiFan 03-12-2007 12:10 PM

so Garage R is a workshop and a PI at the same time you mean?

sqflyer 03-12-2007 02:41 PM

In short... yes.

SushiFan 03-13-2007 08:02 AM

you won't happen to know what sort of package they offer? Visited their homepage, quite impressed with their history and depth of business.

You can call Ms. June at Garage R. Last I heard was around the 98-100k range but cud be cheaper now due to lower COE.

I believe they hv already brought in the 6AT model. But be warned, they are not cheap but at least you hv peace of mind. My experience wif her was a pleasant one altho her price of a 'take it or leave it' nature was initially quite unsettling.

SushiFan 03-13-2007 10:16 AM

oh yours was manual was it? hmmmm then perhaps i could get the 6AT at 90k+. well I wrote them an email... let's see if they reply hur hur.
