Hi my name is Alvin and I am from singapore and my email is ng_choon_yong@yahoo.com.sg... just got a my auto rx-8 red colour for about 2 weeks ago from the PI. so far it has been great and never have I once regret getting this. however sadly I have been having some small problem which I really need help with... my dash board lights when I first got it can be changed from a black background to a white background after I turned the illuminator switch to the maximum, which is damn cool. but after 2 weeks of use, it has broken down and my background remains black after I switch the illumination switch to the max. I have reported to my PI, but they seem to think that it may be just a figment of my imagination and they say they will check it out with the japan side as they do not know of this function. I am worried that they may return and tell me that nothing is wrong.... so I need help... for those with the 05 model, does you dashboard console lights been able to swtich from a black background with white numbers to a white background with black numbers?? please please help, I am desperate.

 

yes it can. check if ur switch is lose or if there's any circuit breaker for that..mayb its popped or sumthin..im not sure...

Mines able to swicth back and forth from white to blue.

Hi guys again...

I had another rx-8 owner that says that his dashboard ligths are normal and that if your headlights are not on, you can adjust the intensity of the tachometer lighting on the numbers(White lighted fonts on black background). And if your headlights are on, the intensity adjustment is on red fonts on blue/black background. after you adjust to the maximum, if you push upwards somemore, it clicks to a white font on black backgound.

However mine, which is spoilt, actually behaves like that.

So is this whte background thing a new thing that is specific to the 05 model? anyone else with this problem? Or is it that all models come with option for switching on the white background and some of the cars' dash board lights are actually spoilt but we were told that it is normal and that it is just a figment of our imagination???

Anyone else can help me out and let me know how does yours behave?

Agree with coupe, drop by friday cause i think the specialists will be there to check if what you say is actually a problem plus solve your interior lighting problem to help you see better. :D

08thmsteam, I have never seen ANY RX-8 with a white BACKGROUND dash illumination, even on 2-week old RX-8s. You should come down and meet up tomorrow night and check it out on the rest of the new 8s. C'ya tomorrow nite!

 

Will try to come down ( which part of kallang?)but having exams in a few weeks... flying to UK for 3 weeks next week and yup will miss my new RX-8....maybe can meet up when I get back from UK first week of november...anyway how often do you guys meet?

 

Its the big open carpark that is near a macdonalds and KFC. Quite easy to spot us, just look out for the big group of 8's
Try your best to make it if you can, probably can just drop for a while and let us have a look at the problem so that you can get it rectified it asap.

 

Oh yeah, best would be to reach half an hour after the stipulated time cause I think most of our watches are syncronised to "hong kong" time, if you get what i mean. Hee...:D
