Question ecu reflash available in Singapore?

Hi guys

Has anyone successfully received the reflashes that have are so talked about in the US? Are any of the PI's garages able to offer it or is it only available from Mazda Singapore? (Or do they have no knowledge of this either??)

thanks

Do a search melo. U will find our opinions on dat....

Nobody done any flash yet. Basically its too much trouble and money for PIs to bother. MM, wait long long........ (dats just me tho)

Cheers

Hi Neon

I did do a search on that, read some of the replies but have yet to find updates on the situation.

I believe some people were going to check with their PIs and also hoping someone who got their car from MM can provide the rest of us with info on whether they are going to offer re-flashes.

Hoping someone will have new "official" updates on the situation!

I've just send my car in for service today, and check with my PI about the re-flash, as I've expected, they know nothing about the flash. Anyway, he's gonna check with Japan side and revert. Let's see then.

The only possiblity of re-flash would be from MM, but don't think they wonld entertain any PI's 8.

Here's alittle update, they know nothing about the re-flash, so they'll check on it. I think this gonna take a while.

Hi M-ster,

I enquired with them with regards to the R-Magic ECU mod. They say they can do it, but the ECU will need to be send over to Japan. And of course, they say that will void warranty.... They also confirm that the mod will disable the speed delimiter and also will have new fuel mappings in it...

No new news about the re-flash though....

Unhappy

My CEL came on suddenly last Monday without any warning of anything unusual last Monday. The DSC lit up at the same time. All this happened at the basement car park of Raffles City and the idling became rough, moving between 1000 to 2000 rpm on its own. I managed to drive out of the basement car park and stop the car immediately and called my PI, who told me to have the car towed back ASAP. They managed to reset the CEL light but cannot give me any reason as to what could have caused it. They ran checks on the car for the next 2 days and the light did not come on again. Wanted to collect the car last Thursday but was advised to let them send the ECU back to Japan for REFLASH. Was told that it takes about 10 to 14 days and is covered under warranty. Keeping my fingers crossed that everything will be ok when the ECU return from vacation.

Even though it was due to unfortunate circumstances, you might be the first in SG to get an ECU flash! (Or maybe M-ster might claim that honour by just a few days ahead of you)

Hope it goes well. Fingers crossed and let the rest of us know if you enjoy better mileage and more power when your ECU gets back from its Japan holiday!

dru8999,

it happens to me twice. Once after sepang track and the other after dyno the car. It will automatically goes off after some time u off the engine.
Initially i thought something wrong too but at the second time after the dyno, the workshop people told its ok. Same as to everybody is looking for guinea pig to let them send your ecu for reflashed. I rejected them.
Anyway, we ll be grateful to you if everythings goes smoothly.

From what i know there are already a few who have done the reflash in Singapore, it just that these guys aren't on the board here. Mine, would probably be ready about the same time as dru8999. So will comment a little more once i get the car back.

Will try and dig as much as i can wat they actually do when they re-flash the ecu when i collect my car either tomo or thursday.

But i wouldn't put too much hope on that, as i doubt the PI would know much....

A little update on the reflash.

In Japan, the reflash of ecu is not known as 'reflash', its just known as 'upgrade' so cant exactly find out wheather if the 'upgrade' is like the American's version of 'L' or 'M'.

The thumping sound was the reason why i was advise to send the ecu to japan (to check and upgrade). after 3weeks, the ecu was back in the car.

Nothing happen, not a damn thing has changed! The thumping sound from the exhaust still there. The milage is still the same (if not slightly worst).

Sorry about the update, it's as good as nothing.....disappointing

I've remembered reading somewhere about having able to check if we've got the lastest reflash (or so call upgrade) by pressing the brake or similar.... its too much threads to go thru, so if anyone remember of such post, please do drop a line here.

thanks

Well I can't help there much, sry M-ster, but I'm perplexed about the fact that only those of us with 8's with the M flash experience rusty rotors. Why is that? And additionaly, how to fix? Is MM due to paint the rotors under warranty?
