Hmzz......sorting out my insurance issues as well, my ride is here but yet to collect n haven decide on my insurance. Apparently, according to my 2 insurance broker, theres only 3 insurance company locally will quote for an 8. AIG, AXA n NTUC. AIG needs the driver to posses 30% NCD. Choices super limited loh.

Also, my dealer + 2 other insurance broker advise me against NTUC. its definitely the cheapest though. Any tots? tks

Go for NTUC if you want cheap coz it's "No Trouble Until Claims" company (for motor insurance). :P Coz my previous workshop guy told me that they don't like NTUC claims coz always very slow. Worse one is China Insurance.

As for the other 2, didn't hear anything bad except that AIG is expensive. So ultimately, it is up to you.

My 5 cents worth.

As a consumer point of view, we wanna make the most of our money(least). Whether or not the workshop likes the insurer or not, its not our problem. Isnt it so?

There are plenty of workshops that are hooked up with NTUC and definitely, if youre worrying tt there wont be anyone entertaining your needs, is unfounded.

Then again, if youre doing a 3rd party claim .. im sure many will welcome you with arms wide open.

Imperatively, rx8 is a mass produced car where parts are commonly available. (Correct me if im wrong though) where any Tom Dick and Derek can easily access to the OEM parts, so no worries.. choose NTUC. Hahaha.

Have recently asked AIG (the insurance I'm on) for a quote in order to do my sums for buying 1 Rx8 (soon hopefully). I'm 28 with 50% NCD. Update you guys in a day or 2 when they come back with the quote but through the phone, they muttered something they deem this to be performance car and likley to be high, don't think the myth that insurers treat the 8 as a 4 door car exist any more?

Sorry guys, just got back from Brussels....

You are right Bro Eisho, the red 8 at Garage R is mine.... Collecting it tomorrow......

In case you need to know.... here's the skinny on my 8

Price paid : 97k
OMV : 30k
COE : 12.6k

Comes with Bose sound system and keyless entry and some other stuff thrown in... All in, I don't think it's that bad a deal. Not the cheapest, but the higher OMV & COE does balance it out. However, I think the 2 key factors that are more important are:
1) the service has been excellent and they delivered when they said they would deliver, in short, I can trust them to deliver on their word
2) the workshop behind it is well equipped to handle all the servicing and maintenance, which you can't get with many of the other PIs.

Just my 2 cent's worth, but I don't know if I got the cheapest deal around, but I do know that I've compared around and it's about average, but more importantly, it was a good buying experience.

For bros who are thinking of getting an 8 and do not want to face the horror stories we have all heard about the other PI's I'd strongly recommend Garage R. Just go look for June or her sister Lee.

Cheers

Yeah, I wrote into Garage R too and they sent me a quote with an attached file of the specs, it was about 95000 i think. After I wrote back to clarify some figures and mentioned to them what I really wanted was a very basic 8 hur... I'm still waiting for their reply. In any case, are you comfortable with the 1 year warranty? I did ask them if they have option to increase warranty with premium but they said dont have. I agree that they are probably experts in high performance cars but to I guess I'm probably not their type of customer, ha ha ha.....Got a pretty good offer from Kruise Auto today that has a 3 year warranty with Monster Garage, might consider that..

Bro SushiFan,

I don't think they are going to be able to drop the price by much for a basic model, but who knows..... anyway, they just moved into their new premise, so prob a little busy...

The deal with Kruise doesn't seem half bad and with Monster Garage providing the warranty, what more can you ask for.... just make sure that in the event of a recall, they take care of everything too...

Good luck looking for your 8 bro...

Damn people you all need to look into erie insurance (if its available in your state) I pay 850 a year with full tort and a 500 ded. I also have a pioneer driver rate applied so my first accident would be waived. Just thought that I'd put my 2 cents in thanks
