Is adding 2T to the pertrol useful?

I read in this forum somewhere that someone added 2T to his petrol.

IMO, i think that this may lubricate the engine but i am concern with the residue clogging the exhust system.

I used to ride a 2 stroke bike before so i know that the unburnt 2T will leak out of the exhaust.

Does anyone know anything about this? Will this lower consumption/ increase power/ cut fuel costs, etc?

 

IMHO, useful or not, that leaves to be proven. Now golden question, your car?

If the car doesn't require that, leave it be. I don't think that will improve consumption or increase power in any way.

 

I think you should have already known that the 8 fuel consumption is relatively quite high and quite frankly i agree with mugo, if you dont need it, dont use it.

If fuel consumption was that important a point, wouldnt that have already been factored in before you made your decision to get this car? My 2c.

 

We all know the 8 is a drinker. By why can't we save fuel when possible?

Why spend the unneccessary?

 

Best way to save fuel = lighter foot.

Are you willing to experiment and risk clogging up your engine and damage the seals? Will cost you much more to repair than the savings , if any.

 

Fab8 had said it 'lighter foot', if u can change gear at 5000rpm or below, i think u can see 360 to 380km, for auto just be gentle on e gas pedal, really want to go further try MicroTech ecu to lean your A/F ratio & might also get better power, they might have e software ready, but make sure u get a good local tuner to do it

 

The thing is this works almost like a fuel additive and taking into consideration that our engine is a rotary and that it does not stroke as in normal piston engines, wouldnt you be taking a risk which would be unnecessary if any thing were to go wrong.

If you mean to lower Your fuel consumption when possible, there are lots of ways like SOME that were published on the papers just recently last sunday. Just to name a few...
-plan your route in advance
-drive with windows up to reduce drag, if never turn on aircon you can always switch to 'let the air in' when you are driving.
-driving at a constant speed without hard revving

You may deem some of these ways excessive but there are lengths that some people will go.

 

Just a word of warning, our 8s are very sensitive... and rotary engines are a completely different breed of engines than 2 stroke motorcyle engines. At the cost of saving a few dollars of petrol, you may be setting yourself up for a few thousand dollars worth of 13B plus loss of use and all the headache. Call me chicken$hit but this is my daily driver and I'm not about to take unnecessary risk to experiment with it like this. Looking for any hero or heroine to try it and let us know the results... :p :D

 

True. but the rotary is almost like the 2 stroke as they both consume engine oil albeit in different was.

Anyway, this was just a innocent question i though of asking since i saw someone posting it in the main forum.

 

Where do you get microtech and how much is it? and is it reliable?

 

bro, how can it be almost the same????.... the rotary rotates round.... the strokes move up n down... totally different leh....
