HI Guys,

I'm in the mids of getting a 6 Speed AT and will appreciate if anyone here can give a little comment if it is a good option???

Also, if someone is able to confirmed if 6 Speed AT comes with 6 Ports or same as 4 Speed AT that is only 4???

I think the 06 RX-8 AT come with upgraded engine with extra 2 port, means 6 port.

 

Paper specs says 6 port. I have yet to open up to physically check for the additional 2 ports.

 

I got my 6AT last sat. So far so good. Will comment more after i run in.

The only con i can think of is the waiting time for the car. It is a very tiring wait.

 

eventually should all be shifted to 6 ports. from a manufacture standpoint, it is a logical move to have common parts for both auto and manual.
good thing with 6AT is smoother transmission and a bit more hp than 4 ports. i think its around 10 hp...

 

thanks for your feedbacks........I reckon that is confirmed that it is running on 6 ports as mentioned by Silver Z......... Been to a few PI and non of them can confirm to that and worst some of them dont even know wat i'm talking about and told me everything is the same as 4Speed AT except for the GEARS.......

AS for the waiting time, I think I will be going for immediate delivery as trying to get a new ride for the new year.....Ha ha ha...

Lets hope I'll get more fun driving an 8....

when you drive it and it can shift from 1st to 6th gear , then its confrimed 6AT and 6 port engine ....no 4 port engine has 6-speed as far as i know
no worries

enjoy the new ride ...make sure to check the mileage when taking over the car ...hopefully not too much mileage clocked

I oso jus confirmed my 6AT 4 days ago . As wat i've read in the forum, the physical tell-tale will be the 2 oil-cooler (at both fog-light area) n the gear **** will have a silver centre piece. i'm however not sure if thers 4AT on sale with these 2 physical features.

 

If the engine cover says Renesis, it is 6 ports. There's no more 4 ports rotary.

 

that confirms the 6 and 4 ports thingy...............I was a little concerned as was told that the 4 ports has got some restriction in power growth if you compare to the 6 ports in a "apple to apple modification" as in 6 ports has got more potential.

 

how much mileage is too much ?
what can i do if it's too much ? legally and ilegally !

i am getting my 8 this Sat (hopefully)

the PI agent drove me up the wall earlier this week and i f*** him upside down and inside out

want to know which agent and from where, PM me to avoid such unnecessary dissapointment

i spend $$ want to enjoy also cannnot, must make me swear and curse at him..haizzzzzz

 

ideally it should be below 100 km since u assume they drive yr car straight to their warehouse for storage and then drive to their showroom for u to collect.
SG is not that big anyway

so be it , i guess ....unless you want to change to another car which i think is no way
the most important thing is to check yr car for any physical defects and make sure the sales show u all the functions and locations in the engine area.

Was actually told that the 6AT I ordered was a 4 port instead of 6 port.... and in the US I believe they market both the 4 and 6 ports as different options ie. standard power and high power?!) Well was told my JDM spec one will have 215 horses, so must be a 4-port I guess
