Mine is the last lightning yellow MM brought in... no time to get anything done on it before the meet-up so still in stock condition. :D

Just got the 2005 key working on my 2004 rx8. Cut my key at MisterMint in Taka. Didn't even register the new key. Programmed the remote within a minute.

Not a necessary to have the key; just a nice accessory to have....that is you have US$200 to spare.

Got the mail order from rx8garage.net. Received it in 5days. Instructions are shipped together with the key/remote. Simple and straight forward.....couple of key turns and activation of the driver side door sensor and the remote's up and working like a charm.

Kudos to the members of tech garage forum/DIY. I got the 2005 key to prove our local agents/importers wrong and theyre full of bull. Now I know how much to believe them.....

Just curious 8citing, is your 8 from MM or PI? More importantly, does it come with the immobiliser? I'm wondering if the immobiliser is via the remote or via a proximity transponder at the base of the key.

Guys, mine's PI. Doesn't have immobiliser. The lock/unlock/boot-release buttons work. It has a panic button as well; which I think is for the immobiliser. How many buttons on your current remote with immobiliser?

The US members all got it to work on their AT/6MT; their 8 comes with immobiliser as well. I don't see why it won't work for 8 from mm/nn/oo/whoever sold the car.

Group buy or not doesn't affect the price much. Its juz US$5 per shipping.

Thanks for the info 8citing. Unfortunately, I think our MM cars have the proximity transponder immobiliser at the base of the key and therefore not controlled via the remote. Our 3-button remotes have the lock/unlock/boot buttons. The US 8s might come with an electronic immobiliser with the remote.

Any bros tried cutting a blank key and managed to start the engine? If it works, then we can go ahead and order the retractable key.

I don't think cutting a blank key would be able to start the engine as it doesn't have the transponder to activate the immobiliser. But I am not exactly sure how close the key have to be for the immobiliser to detect the transponder. Hmmm.... wondering if you can just undo the key and grab it out. Haha... The blank retractable would be able to be reprogramed for the remote easily as stated in the tech forum. Starting the engine would be the issue.

Sqflyer...then I think thats y the keys needed to be regstered for the US guys. My 8 doesn't have immobiliser. Thats y could start the car w/o going thru the key programming steps. Anyway, programming the keys is as ez as setting up the remote.

The 2005 key and remote is ordered together. They form one set of retractable key.

Hi guys, i got the reply from garage.net... here is wat it says:

The key works on all 2004 rx8 and 2005

if the car has no emobilezer system then you just ignor that part of the programming set.
The key fob will work on all rx8.. 2004 2005 A spec and B spec
