Wait for the phone call
There have been a few posts in other threads suggesting that there is going to be a delay in the delivery of RX-8s in the UK.
I have just spoken to Mazda UK about this, and they say that at the moment the launch date of July 31st is still on target. (I couldn't get them to explain what the launch date means - I'm guess that the cars ar in the UK, otherwise it'll be a pretty quiet 'launch' :p )
At the end of the month (or even before) everyone who has pre-ordered will be called by Mazda UK with a delivery date for their car.

Just back from picking up my fancy book from the dealers and he gave me confirmation of the delivery date. He had a letter from Mazda UK that stated they are going to begin delivery of UK cars in early July. The time to build, coupled with the 36 day delivery from Japan (as stated in the letter) means that those of us in the first batch will receive the car in MID SEPTEMBER. How crap is that. Also, Mazda will be writing to all pre-order customers within two weeks (so knowing them, that means in bout 6 weeks) to let us know this info.
He seems to think that the dealers will get their demonstrators at the same time as the first customer orders. If that is the case, then it's terrible news. Im not forking out another penny until ive driven the car and if i have to buy the car without driving it, then im not going to bother.
One of these days we might just move forward a step without taking two back.

Starting to look ominous isn't it ?
Oh well - look on the bright side - it is only a 4-6 week delay and it means that there is no decision to be made concerning whether to have on an '03' plate or wait for the '53' plate (for those who care...)
On the downside it means I have to do another summer with no air-con !

i know things go wrong. Companies promise things they can't deliver to customers all the time. What i would like to see though is Mazda doing what any respectable company wouldl do and that is to admit : ' hey, we got it wrong. Things have been delayed. But guess what, we're going to keep you entertained...with free GP tickets or free previews, or free and exclusive drives when the dealers get their cars before you do!...or free or discounted flights to Japan to see how they make the RX8...and the list goes on and on.
I know sh*t happens, but at least tell me and then keep me as a customer.

Yes, just like they could and should have told us customers directly that the power was being decreased. They make a big thing about this car's 'sporting' pretensions so you'd think they'd have the decency to admit the truth!
