Troubles starting

I'm having trouble starting my RX8 gen 1, I can bump start it and it works straight away, or use a jump pack and she's fine, but if I try to start her normally with the key, it cranks over at around 280rpm and sounds like it's just on the cusp of firing. I've just bought a new battery for it, I've checked all the grounds, check the spark plugs and crank sensor, it's all working. When she is running she runs smooth as anything and has no hot start issues. Any ideas?

300. 280 is fine, it should be starting.

If a jump pack does the job then it sounds like your battery is toast, but if that were the case, it wouldn't spin at 280 rpm. Sure it's not 180?

How are the battery terminals?

Battery terminals are fine, I bought the battery last week brand new, it's a yuasa silver 5000 hsb013.

I agree a new starter should do it if your batt is new.
