Arrow battery dead, installed new, won't start?

Hi guys, this is my son's Mazda RX8...he has been letting me drive it...
it started not wanting to start with the battery light on
it did this to me 3 times
i told him
i got ignored
i did stop to wash it stop/start
did it then
and start/stop in the driveway 2x's
he put the new battery last night
said he can not start it
i heard the starter click/buzz
so he is gettin the charge
but nothing
with a starter that could be it..the sound?
if it were completely dead could be the alternator?
and i read about the rpm rush it needs when turning on and off
i was not doing that...
so now he is talking spark plugs..
what i have researched
the plugs can get wet from flooding
he is getting the flooding smell he said

do you guys
have experience that u might send me on the next step here?...
start with plugs?
thanks
kathy

how many miles are on the car? What year is it? When was the last time the spark plugs and ignition coils were changed? Is it an automatic or manual?

It's likely one or both of the battery connectors are bad and not clamping down tight enough. Replace'em
Have your son get involved in a local rotary car club. You're likely to meet people near by that are willing to help out with problems.
