Press Launch almost upon us.

According to the letter Oilman got from his dealer last month the European press launch will be next week.

[snip]
Launch events & Timings

European press launch preview
17,18,19 June
Rimini
Major European press

Uk Press Launch preview
18-25 July
North wales
Key journalists from Uk press

Uk fleet launch preview
25-31 July
North Wales
VIP fleet buyers

Dealer principal Uk drive
5-8 August
Manchester Airport
Uk principal dealers
[/snip]

The Uk press launch isn't until July, but is in North Wales.

Now I don't remember there being any quality motor racing facilities in North Wales!
Does anybody know where this might be held, would it be in Snowdonia somewhere for photgraphs, windy roads etc.????

As the (i guess) 20 cars will be there for almost a fortnight, if you count the fleet launch event as well, perhaps those of us who are local might be able to go along and have a peek.

Anglesea Circuit

Yes I found the info here Anglesea Circuit, checking to see if the two weeks in July are booked up.

Edit: Hmmm, there seems to be events on during the second week.

If this is still to schedule then we should see some reviews in the weeklies the following week around the 25th.

Lets hope they're good.....

(Mind you Ive never taken the opinion of the weekly cars mags to seriously to be honest as sometimes they seem way off)

I think Autocar are are usually OK. However, they already seem to have decided that they don't like the RENESIS much - their front cover headline when they tested it in California was something like "The rotary is back... but would a V6 have been better?" I imagine they will like the reduced power version even less.

yes, if you want to make the car nose heavy and understeery, loose the 50:50 weight balance, spoil the handling, not be free revving, and be like every other car out there.

I have that article as well and I think they missed the point of the Renesis engine.

Excuse my ignorance but what does "free revving" mean?

Is this like variable cam or am I well off?

Means it revvs freely. i.e. up to 9500rpm and quick to change revs.

Absolutely. It was actually a pretty strange piece. They slagged off Laguna Seca for not being a proper race circuit (I've seen the videos and it look like a pretty serious track to me!). Then they didn't like Highway 1, which apparently was Mazda's fault too.

It just sounded like they'd been flown out there cattle class and were seriously jet lagged and decided to use the article to have a good moan. Hopefully they'll be in a better mood for the European launch.
