Are you asking to much of your 24K You don't get a heated front screen on Focus RS!

What else could you buy for the money? I think some people are getting a bit carried away, your not buying a 60K porsche, more like a high end Celica or bottom end Audi TT with totally 90's, out of date styling, for the money. There are other japanese ***** out super saloons on offer but, that keep gettiing a mention but again they are very different markets, i wont be cruising McDonalds in my RX. There are other new coupes coming to the market which challenge the RX, but not on price! And what imagination does it take to buy a BMW Mercedes, think about why you ordered the RX in the first place. Where elese are you going to get superb styling, unique engine and great exclusivity for 22K? Please dont miss the point of the RX-8.

Mazda are trying to make the balance that the rx-7 missed. For its time the rx-7 was a high spec car but trying to sell it at near 35K diddnt work. Mazda have for the last 14 years got the balance completley correct with the mx-5, not massivly high spec, not high powered, but very reasonable price, and bags and bags of fun, the best handling car for the money by far.

This is what the RX-8 needs to be as well, heated screens and 9bhp DONT make a Drivers car.

Is having a heated screen considered a luxury? Personally I think it should be included. My current car, a Ford Puma has one and it's nearly 6 years old,

My main concern with the rx8 is the fuel economy and until I find out realistic figures on this, I ain't gonna consider one!

My £13k(new - guess) focus gas heated front screen, mirrors and washers.

HFS is absolutly superb and will be the biggest thing i miss about the focus when i change.

 

To call a car exclusive that mazda wants to run with for 3 years and sell as many as it can over that period possible 120,000 units ,ihardly call that exclusive motoring . Yes the rx8 seems to be good value per dollars spent ,but lets not get carried away in the marketing bullshit.

Look guys I know you've been waiting a long time for this car, so have I. But people seem to be pulling it apart for the sake of pulling it apart.

I'm not saying a heated front screen is a luxury, i'm saying so what if it does'nt have one, its not aFord its a MAZDA they have their own way of dealing with it. So forget the front screen and all these other trivial problems and start thinking about the experience of driving the car. None of us know at this point confirmed details, so wait for the full spec to be released and stop winding yourselves up over something you can cancel for £100 if you really do'nt like what you hear when it arrives.

 

On the point of exclusive Mazda sold around 40,000 cars last year, Ford sold 400,000, from what i've just read above two of you are coming out of Focus and one a Puma! Would you say a BMW or Mercedes were exclusive because of their marketing blurb? How many cars did they sell last year?

I'm talking about cars per square meter here, and in that case the RX IS going to be exclusive.

 

Giggsy this board is quite upbeat at the moment, lot more so than a few weeks ago.

I dont think anyone expected a heated front w/s and was (to my knowledge) only brought up today on the forums.

For £22k were getting a lot of car, we all realise that, but ( for me at least) it is a luxury car - climate control, Bose stereo etc etc say 'luxury'sports instead of a 100% pure sports car (elise type).

 

Sorry guys i know a lot of the talk latley has been much more upbeat, and seeing the car has managed to convince the mojority that this is the right car for them.

Just felt like a rant. Maybe if we could all get to see the car in some way little niggles would'nt come in to it at all!?

 

Never had a heated front window, a/c normally does the trick quiet fast. Not expecting it in RX8 hence my initial surprise on other thread.

Must say I don't see this as either a luxury or 'pure' sports car, somewhere in-between. I think for £22k one is not going to get luxury as something has to give. You may have a/c, BOSE etc but will find that the interior is all plastic and cloth (leather is extra) and as lensman pointed out some of the fixtures are quite flimsy. I think it will all be of good quality and as long as it has a European feel about it (as opposed to shiny Japanese) then I will be happy but luxury is reserved for the Jags, Mercs and above.

I have an Lexus IS200 at the moment, and well it is supposed to have a heated windscreen well so i was told the last time i got it replaced. Doesnt really make a blind bit of difference. The climate control more than makes up for it. In saying that my wife has just taken delivery of a 323 1.6 GSi and its a super we motor. The windscreen clears faster than the lexus on a cold morning as we race each other out the drive

 

I think "Jags , MErcs and above" needs to be modified to "High end Jags , Mercs and above"
The Merc C180 I borrowed remains the worst car I have EVER driven.... and made a Lada look luxurious - I kid you not !

Key point remains - for £22K this car is amazing. Dont expect £60K fitments though !
