The letter writes

Notification that delivery is fast approaching

The first UK shipments of the MAzda RX-8 are now on their way and we are in the process of allocating customer cars to dealerships in preparation for their arrival. This process does take some time and we will be writing to you again shortly with further details on the delivery timing of your Mazda RX-8.

In the interim please find enclosed a copy of the Mazda RX-8 brochure. We have also finalised the pricing for the Mazda RX-8 accessory range and this brochure is currently at print. We will distribute this to you shortly with a full accessory price list. In the meantime please find enclosed your preview copy of the Mazda RX-8 accessory brochure. You can also download a brochure and price list for the Mazda RX-8 range of accessories in the "Up Close" section of our dedicated website, www.mazda.co.uk

Finally, may I take this opportunity to apologise again for the unforseen delays we have experienced relating to the fulfilment of your order and once again thank you for your continued patience.

Yours Sincerely

Jereremy Thomson
Marketing Director

Vindication. See, it IS worth asking for an apology. I have now got one, and feel much happier. Thank you Mazda for listening. I am sure they can't give us tracking information on the ships themselves, which is a bit of a shame, they also haven't offered any discount off them for us long suffering ones, but nonetheless, it shows they do care.
Interesting that there is a 350XXXX reference above the order ref, which mine now has the RX8 prefixed to make RX8-EP729.

I've got my letter as well and it doesn't really say anything ...

"RX-8 on the way ... in the process of allocating customers cars ... " (but we haven't finished doing this!)

"please find enclosed a copy of the Mazda RX-8 brochure ..." (but the prices are not ready) - well they are but not before the letter was sent.

Having said this the brochure(s) are very nice and clearly illustrate the accessories well.

But I thought that Mazda was going to tell me this month when my car was arriving? Well, they have 10 more days.

...and they will tell us. I know it depends on your definition of "shortly", but I am happy that they have given us something else, rather than waiting until the last day of the month to finally give us some info - avoiding the issue at the end of August which resulted in so much frustration that forum members ended up annoying others - people they haven't even met or spoken to other than here (well maybe IRC too) just because of lack of or mis information.

Mazda do appear to be listening, and for that we have to have allow them to prove themselves.

However, come October 1st (and the due date for our baby which has taken less time to arrive than a car) my view will change. So, we will see.

The accompanying "Vehicle Specifications" brochure is much more detailed than the website.
Any one else notice that "scuff plates : Aluminium " are listed as standard equipment on both models . So why also list them as £200 Accessories ?

Also we get an exterior temperature indicator as part of the instrument cluster, apparently.

I think the temp indicator is a digital readout which appears in orange above the stereo, along with some other info.
