Smile New Boy

I have been a long time voyeur of this forum and have finally decided to say Hello!

I placed a deposit in mid January at a Mazda dealer near Guildford.

Colour: Grey (I was told only Red,Silver or grey available First)
Power : HI 237 Bhp six speed
Extras:Leather,sunroof,Sat-nav (Fully Loaded as Q would say)

Dealer said I was order number 5 , out of an allocated 7

I have not heard a Dicky Bird from dealer or Mazda web site since then. I hope Mazda UK respond quickly to the forums questions.

My only real Problem is going to be Insurance, I' m 25 and have only had company cars.... I just know it going to be a Shock!

Welcome Plasmaboy,

Another Titanium grey to add to the list. It seems that this will be the most popular choice so maybe I will change to black after all.

Hopefully between us we can get as much info as possible over the coming months.

Welcome to the Europe Forum Plasmaboy!

Hopefully you'll get as much out of it as us "sado's" do!

If you've any questions for Mazda put them forward, we can only try to get the info.

Cheers
Oilman.

PS. Used to live in Guildford and Farnham (many moons ago)

There is a ColoUr () survey on one of the main forums.
Earlier (may have changed now) 60% of the orders were for Titanium Gray ! (20 orders).

Think that shows where the majority opinion lies !
Me , I knew what colour I wanted before they were announced - and someone in rotary-heaven must have listened ....

Interestingly , not one single Yellow has voted.

Oh yeah - forgot my manners, Welcome PlasmaBoy...

On subject of insurance you may be able to find a sympathetic insurer who will take into account any company car history (If you can get a letter from your Fleet dept or something saying you have not made claims).
I went through the same thing - without this there was no way I could have insured anything interesting at all.... !

Good luck -

Morgan.

Morganrogers,

Just as long as the colour will not be as common as the silver Audi TT (although best colour for its shape).

Have you had this or similar colour before? How does it compare to black as a bitch of a colour to keep clean?

I have had both, a 'storm grey' (I believe it was called) MX-3 V6, and a Platinum MX-6 (my current car).

The Platinum and Storm Grey were both great colours as far as dirt is concerned, the Platinum being the slightly better of the two.

Even in the wintery conditions we have now, I can easily leave the car for three or four weeks before it becomes really noticeable.

But then I'm not fanatical about showroom shine.

Hi rael -

Nope , never had gray before , had black (lovely for 10 mins) , had silver (great for looking clean when dirty).
Assume this will be between the two....

As regards being common I really wouldn't worry about it.
Firstly - buy the one that *you* want. The car should be for you , not for others so if you want gray , have gray (or any other colour).
Secondly , much as Mazda may love it to be the case , I do not think this car will ever overtake the TT. What the TT managed was to become a fashion accessory - and thus they sold by the truckful. (Despite the early safety fears that the press said would kill it)
I dont think the RX8 will have that level of appeal - I am afraid that alot of people want one of 3 badges only (Audi, BMW and Merc) and although I am not lumping you in with them (after all you are here and commited!) that is a fact.
I know plenty of people who would kill for a TT and would not be seen in a 'Mazda'. Sad but true.

Anyway - back to the point.
You are buying an RX8 for you. It is a rear drive , unique engined DRIVERS machine. Choose the one for you and enjoy it !
(Gray or otherwise).

Morgan.

PS - If it makes you feel better , If Gray is the most popular new choice it will be the most popular 2nd hand choice when you come to trade.... !

Black is out and I'm slowly shifting to red again (from silver) having seen recent pictures in which the colour looks so rich plus one gets interior colour.

Need to see the car live, no substitue, before finally ordering.
