Deposits going cheap
My dealer (Docklands Mazda, east London) only took a deposit of £500 when I ordered in mid-Jan.
Just out of curiousity, has anyone else come across other dealers doing the same? Or have you all paid £1000?

My dealer had taken 2 of £250 last summer !
I was the first £1000 (so , an actual order form - although not an official RX8 form , just a Mazda order form).
Not sure if the £1000 is a Mazda standard when ordering a car or the figure put on the RX8.
Either way , what is certain is that although Mazda dealers are taking deposits (usually £1000 , but not always) these are not 'Firm' RX8 reservations.
Truth is no-one actually knows for certain how the first allocation will be sorted out. We have a number of ideas put forward , but not from Mazda.
The date being kicked around is 28th Jan for official orders to begin. Most popular idea is that Public and Mazda dealers will place orders via separate websites on that day.
It is thought that Mazda dealers get priority and that the figure will be £1000.
Bottom line is - be on the safe side and up your deposit to £1000 ASAP and make your dealer promise that you retain your place in front of any subsequent £1000 orders !
Good luck...

I posted £250 mid January with my dealers on the understanding that they had no clue what Mazda really wanted and I may have to top up to £1000. I think the £1000 figure came from the web-site ordering system and dealers are taking advantage.
I was also told that as all cars would be distributed via the dealers I would be serviced before any internet orders.
We will see but hope our consolidated letter to Mazda will clarify this issue before it is too late.

I gave my dealer my credit card details for the deposit the first week of February, but as of yesterday the money still had not be taken out of my account.
So I've paid no deposit at all.:D
But does this mean he hasn't raised my order!
